A series of conjugated-chain compounds which contain two furan units and more than three other aromatic ring units were synthesized by two different methods, their UV–visible absorption coefficient (ε), maximum absorption wavelengths (λa), fluorescence emission wavelengths (λe), stokes shift and quantum yields (Φ) were determined, the relationships between the molecular structures and the effects of spectral behaviors were discussed. Meanwhile, the excitation spectrum and emission spectrum of 2b and 2d in solid and in ethyl acetate were respectively recorded, the thermal stability of 2b and 2d was evaluated, and the fluorescence emission behaviors of two light emitting diodes, fabricated with 2b and 2d as phosphors, were investigated. The results showed that most of target compounds can perform high fluorescence emission ability, compounds 2b and 2d can perform higher thermal stability under 350 °C and they are suitable for making light emitting diode as phosphors, the light emitting diodes fabricated with 2b and 2d can show higher fluorescence emission ability. Therefore, those compounds are worthy of further being developed as fluorescent emission materials. © 2016

Three novel quinoline- and fluorene-coumarin hybrids were prepared and characterised by Fourier Transform-infrared spectroscopy, proton and carbon nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, elemental analysis and ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry. Their photoluminescence properties were investigated. All of these hybrid molecules exhibited a broadband emission from ca. 450 to 800nm when excited by a 325nm helium-cadmium laser at room temperature. Importantly, the fluorene-coumarin hybrid shows a very bright red emission at ca. 650nm and displays up to a 10-fold increase in fluorescence emission intensity, as compared with the other samples. The experimental results confirm that remarkable enhancements in the fluorescence emission intensity can be obtained by introducing a fluorene group into the azo-bridged coumarin-based π-conjugated framework. The geometry structures and frontier orbitals are calculated by the ab initio Hartree-Fock method. © 2011 The Authors. Coloration Technology © 2011 Society of Dyers and Colourists.

An abnormal level of CO gas was detected in a 126 kV SF6 circuit breaker when it was being tested. According to the analysis, potential fault has occurred in this circuit breaker. After chemical analysis and experimental research on the source of the CO gas, we disintegrated the circuit breaker in order to check it. Finally we come to conclusion that the fault was caused by the excessive scribbling of lubricating grease. The paper analyses the lubricating grease's influence on the operating characteristics of circuit breaker and the decomposition products of SF6.

Abnormal content of SO2gas was detected in a 126 kV SF6 circuit breaker, which inferred a latent fault in this circuit breaker. Theoretical analysis and disassembling inspection of the circuit breaker indicated that this latent fault was due to floating potential discharge in this circuit breaker. This paper analyses the forming process of floating potential and its influence on the operating characteristics of the circuit breaker. And the generation mechanisms of gaseous and solid decomposition products of SF6 gas under floating potential discharge are discussed.
