A huge groundwater outflow(about 30000 m3/d) problem (which happens frequently) is encountered in the tunnels of piedmond terraces in zinc pollymetallic sulphide ore, Sanguikou, which significantly influenced the galleries and shafts construction. In this work, to exam the connection of water outflow from galleries, shafts and groundwater salt and edible dye were injected into shallow Quaternary pore water nearby the Hetao plain, resistivity was measured and color change was observed at the outlets of water outflow. By doing tracer test, geological survey and construction, we found that there were four large fault/fracture zones under the designed shafts and galleries, which were main water conducting channels of the water outflow. The results showed that the water outflow was correlated well with Quaternary pore water of piedmont plain, which flew into the shafts along the F1-2, F1-3, F1-4 and F1-5 fracture zones. The maximum and average flow velocity were 0.352~0.388 m/s and 0.193~0.079 m/s respectively.

This study shows a rockfall susceptibility assessment at local scale in north Beijing of China, including the identification of rockfall sources onsite by terrain and rock discontinuities analysis and run-out distance prediction by Rocfall™ simulation. Two types of rockfall were defined including one type on the cliffs with long inclined slopes and another type on the road slopes with low height. Two historical rockfall events were used to back-calibrating the parameters used for run-out distance simulation. Based on the work, rockfall susceptibility map at local scale was created in GIS, which was compared with the map obtained at regional scale (entire Huairou district scale). Due to the difference of approaches applied, procedure of assessment and types of source data acquired, the two resulting rockfall susceptibility maps are proved to be different. Still, both of them are useful and could be used at different level’s decision for rockfall prevention and mitigation. Different types of uncertainties exist in the study of rockfall susceptibility assessment. To reduce the uncertainties, studies on both approaches and techniques are suggested. © 2014, Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

Such the ideas on genesis and ore prospecting of the Dongshengmiao deposit proposed by Zhang et al. (2010) are questioned in this paper as the classification of orebodies (i.e., sulfur orebodies and zinc orebodies), shapes, structure and texture, REE pattern of both sulfur and zinc ore. It was negated in this paper that, in Dongshengmiao deposit, sulfur orebodies were resulted from SEDEX process and zinc orebodies were caused by hydrothermal reworking after sulfur orebodies forming, and the further exploration be here. In Dongshengmiao-Sanguikou area, there are mainly six zinc orebodies (i.e., orebodies 9, 2, 11, 3, 10 and 4) and four sulfur ones (i.e., orebodies 1, 3, 4, and 2). Orebody 9, occurring comfortably in schist and having the same REE pattern model with the wall rock, should be resulted from the SEDEX mineralization process, similar to the mineralization of other orebodies. It is proposed that further ore exploration should be concentrated upon the deeper boot orebody of SEDEX deposit.
