The paper describes our web publication of visual teaching materials for business mathematics. The objective of the web site is to familiarize students with our visual approach for business mathematics at early stage. The significant advantage of visualization is that seeing the materials leads to better understanding of the mathematical process. Even if the students cannot understand the algebraic calculation process, they can intuitively understand the essence, only seeing the visual materials. The feature of our developed teaching materials is utilization of three-dimensional graphics and its animations. Just watching the animation, students can see the points, even if they have no idea about operations on the web. In the paper, we will illustrate the typical economics problem named the Marshallian demand function. © 2012 IEEE.

With the help of fast and cheap information technology GPS navigators for car navigation are becoming very common. But unlike vehicle users, pedestrians form a more heterogeneous group having different levels of physical abilities with varieties of conditions, personal preferences and needs. The lack of data to support pedestrian navigation also imposes a harder challenge to design generalized navigation system for pedestrians, specially elders and persons with disability. In this work a framework for an user aware pedestrian navigation system is designed in which a fuzzy set theory based algorithm is proposed to analyze the user's requirement from the linguistic expression within limited vocabulary and a genetic algorithm is proposed to generate multiple alternate near optimal routes according to user's need. The optimal route can be decided by user from the options by an interactive mode. A simple simulation experiment has been done to study the feasibility of the development of an user aware, flexible pedestrian navigation system. ©2010 IEEE.

Social computing services, which enable people to easily communicate and effectively share the information through the Web, are rapidly spreading recently. In such services, effective topic extraction technique from messages in social computing services has been significant so that trend topics and their reputation can be recognized. However, since messages contain redundancy and topic boundaries are ambiguous, it is difficult to extract appropriate topics. As a first step to extract topics, this paper proposes an effective method to automatic determination of appropriate number of topics based on the intra-cluster distance and the inter cluster - distance among topic clusters We present our experimental results to show the effectiveness of our proposed parameter. © 2010 IEEE.

Most advanced VTOL airplanes such as V-22, JSF-35, and AV-8 can change the directions of their propulsions from horizontal to vertical at landings, and also from vertical and horizontal after takeoffs. The maneuvers by a pilot of such a VTOL airplane at those changes seem to be difficult and rarely cause some accidents. The more prediction on the behaviors of the airplane including the trajectory and the attitude could be computed in real time and be displayed the result in the cockpit. This paper proposes a display system that displays the predictions on the behaviors with a virtual display on a personal computer. The graphic processors of embedding systems have become to have equivalent performance to the current personal computers. Therefore the prototype system proposed on this paper could be realized also in the most embedding systems using in the guidance. For the predictions, this system calculates a simple physical simulation and a simple hydrodynamic simulation. Comparing to the current situation where the avionics of the VTOL tells no prediction, the simple prediction computed by the guidance computer would much assist the pilot to make an instantaneous decision on the maneuver. © 2010 IEEE.
