Diagrams for the concentration of complex ions pc-pH, the ratio of aluminum hydroxyl complex ions αn-pH, and conditional solubility product of their hydrates to pH in their system were drawn based on the thermodynamic equilibrium principle of complex chemistry. The relationship between the equilibrium concentration of total aluminum ions and pH was shown in Al3+-H2O system, when dissolution of Al(OH)3 is in equilibrium. The solubility of Al(OH)3 is the least when pH=5.69~8.00. The diagram for αn-pH shows that each hydroxyl complex ion existed in the system is dependent upon an optimized pH value. The diagram for the conditional solubility product pPS-pH indicates that the pPS reaches minimum when pH=5.0~8.0. The results can provide a theoretical basis for the technology on the flotation influenced by aluminum ions and removal of aluminum ions from the wastewater by neutralized method. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Molybdenum-copper ore from Bangpu, Mozhugongka County, Tibet was crushed by high pressure grinding rolls (HPGR) and jaw crusher. The micro-cracks of the crushed product by different crushing processes were analyzed. The work indexes of ball mill by different crushing processes at different target particle size were measured, and the effects on the work indexes of ball mill by different crushing processes were studied. The results show that the micro-crack of crushing products by HPGR increases obviously compared with that by jaw crusher. The micro-crack of the crushed product by HPGR is very obvious when the particle size is between 0.9 and 3.2 mm. The work indexes of ball mill by HPGR are lower than that by jaw crusher. As the target particle decreases, the Bond work index of ball mill of the crushed product by HPGR increases faster than that by jaw crusher. It can be forecasted that energy saving of the crushed product by HPGR is more obvious than that by Jaw Crusher when the grinding fineness (<0.074 mm content) is less than 60%.

Molybdenum-Copper ore from Bangpu, Mozhugongka County, Tibet was crushed by high pressure grinding rolls (HPGR) and jaw crusher and the Bond work indexes of ball mill by different crushing manners at different target particle sizes were measured, and the influence of grinding fineness on the work indexes of ball mill by different crushing manners was studied, and the graphical user interface of Bond work index of ball mill of Bangpu Mo-Cu Ore by high pressure grinding rolls was established. The results show that, the work indexes of ball mill by HPGR are lower than that by Jaw Crusher. It can be forecast that energy saving of the crushed product by HPGR is more obvious than that by Jaw Crusher when the grinding fineness (mass fraction of ore with grain size of less than 0.074 mm) is less than 60%. The designed Graphical User Interface can be very convenient and precise for calculating the Bond work index of ball mill of Bangpu Mo-Cu ore Crushed by HPGR and any grinding fineness the Bond work index of ball mill requires.

Vanadium-titanium magnetite from Panxi was superfinely crushed by high pressure grinding roller. The particle size characteristics of the crushed product from different crushing processes were analyzed, and the modification of the work index of ball mill and emerging of the micro-crack by different crushing manner were studied. The results showed that, in crushed products, the reduction ratio increases and the size distribution becomes more uniform with increasing of the pressure on roller surfaces. The particle size decreases but uniformity reduces with increasing of the edge products circulating mass. And the fine fraction content of crushing products from -3.2 mm classification closed-circuit by HPGR increases obviously compared with that by Jaw Crusher and particle size distribution is more uniform. Large amount of intracrystalline cracks and cleavage cracks are generated in vanadium-titanium magnetite crushed by HPGR, which makes the Bond work index of ball mill (objective particle size is 0.074 mm) of vanadium-titanium magnetite 14.05% lower than that by Jaw Crusher.

The parameters m and k in grinding kinetics equation were studied by using analytic geometry and partial derivative method. The analyses include not only the relationship between the parameters and the grinding time, but also the effect on the grinding speed. It turned out that the parameter k mainly affects oversized cumulative productivity R when t≪e1/k. The larger parameter k is, the faster grinding speed is. With the increase of the grinding time the parameter m mainly affects oversized cumulative productivity R when t≫e1/k. The larger parameter m is, the faster grinding speed is. Moreover, the conclusion was verified according to previous studies. The above theoretical results can fully explain the grinding speed under the different grinding conditions and material properties.

This paper studied the comminuted hematite product size characteristics in different processes of high pressure grinding roll(HPGR), including open circuit operation, closed circuit operation with edge product recycles and classification. The results showed that with the specific pressing force increased, the fineness of products decreases and the size distribution becomes more uniform owing to a higher increasing ratio of the F50/P50 reduction ratio than that of the F80/P80 and F20/P20 reduction ratio. The fineness of products decreases with the increasing of edge product circulating mass, while the size distribution becomes more non-uniform resulting from a higher increasing ratio of the F80/P80 reduction ratio than that of the F50/P50 and F20/P20 reduction ratio. Compared with jaw crusher, HPGR gives a higher reduction ratio and more fines in the process of closed circuit and produces a more uniform particle size distribution.
