The tunnels on Chengdu-Lanzhou railway under construction are located in more complicated geological conditions and the mileages of construction-induced large deformation in soft rock tunnel with high ground stress are nearly dozens of kilometers. In this paper, aiming at large rock deformation hazards and construction difficulties, a comprehensive study is carried out by means of theoretical analysis, engineering analogy and field testing. The basic characteristics and occurrence mechanism of large deformation of soft rock tunnel with high ground stress are highlighted and the control technology of rock-bolting and shotcreting as primary supporting means is proposed on the basis of engineering practice. Staged engineering tests and practices indicate that this study has a good effect on controlling the large deformation of soft rock tunnel with high ground stress. ©, 2015, Editorial Office of "Modern Tunnelling Technology". In this paper, based on tunnel projects on Chengdu-Lanzhou railway, the causes and status of diseases in domestic tunnels under operation are analyzed and a comprehensive comparison of research achievements on high-performance concrete at domestic and foreign is made to develop a non-powder nano-material combined with superfine admixture suitable for shotcrete and secondary lining in tunnel. Meanwhile, combined with engineering practices, a series of experiment and testing are carried out to obtain a high performance concrete with low cost. Results show that the application of nano-material and superfine particle admixture (Nano-SA) in tunnel concrete has a series of advantages as economy, environmental protection and durability and also follows the principle of labor protection and the concept of green tunnel engineering, with the prospect of popularization. ©, 2015, Editorial Office of "Modern Tunnelling Technology".
