The inflammatory and reparative processes in the parenchymal wounds after laser coagulation are characterized by predominance of proliferative reaction. Injury foci are always spatially separated from the intact tissue. Coagulation necrosis and thrombosis lead to suppression of the exudative component of inflammation in sites of laser exposures in the liver, kidneys, and spleen. Early macrophage response stimulates proliferation of fibroblasts and formation of the fine connective tissue scar within 14 days. © 2012 Springer Science+Business Media New York. Source

Irreversible changes in the liver tissue after high-intensity laser exposure develop at a depth of no more than 200 μ. Infl ammatory reaction in the wounds does not depend on laser source and is characterized by predominance of proliferative processes leading by day 15 after surgery to the formation of a fine cicatrix. Hermetic sealing of the parenchymatous hepatic wound by laser welding to xenogenous peritoneum is no less effective than TahoComb and Beriplast P drugs and deserves further studies and clinical use. © 2012 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc. Dogs with experimental fi brosing pancreatitis were subjected to laser tunneling to assess its effect on the dynamics of some morphometric indices of the pancreas. On post-tunneling day 60, volume ratio of the parenchyma signifi cantly increased while the volume ratio of the stroma decreased in comparison to the dogs with fi brosing pancreatitis not corrected by laser tunneling. © 2010 Springer Science + Business Media, Inc. Adaptive reactions develop in rat gingival mucosa 1 min after single exposure to low-intensity 890-nm laser: the number of mast cells, degree and index of their degranulation, the diameter of blood vessels and their total area considerably increased.
