Severe acne presents sexual dimorphism in its incidence in Chinese population. It is more prevalent in males. To assess the possible Y chromosomal contribution to severe acne risk in Han Chinese males, we analyzed 2041 Y chromosomal SNPs (Y-SNPs) in 725 severe acne cases and 651 controls retrieved from our recent genome-wide association study data. After data filtering, we assigned 585 cases and 494 controls into 12 Y chromosomal haplogroups based on 307 high-confidence Y-SNPs. No statistically significant difference in the distribution of Y chromosomal haplogroup frequencies was observed between the case and control groups. Our results showed a lack of association between the incidence of severe acne and the different Y chromosomal haplogroup in the Han Chinese population.

Background Elevated fibrinogen (Fg) level is a known risk factor for ischemic stroke. There are few clinical trials on oral fibrinogen-depleting therapies for secondary ischemic stroke prevention. We aimed to assess the effects of one-year therapy with oral lumbrokinase enteric-coated capsules on secondary ischemic stroke prevention. Methods This is a multicenter, randomized, parallel group and controlled study that began treatment in hospitalized patients with ischemic stroke and continued for 12 months. Patients were randomized to either the control group that received the standard stroke treatment or the fibrinogen-depleting group that received the standard stroke treatment plus enteric-coated lumbrokinase capsules. The NIH Stroke Scale scores (NIHSSs) and plasma Fg level were recorded. The carotid artery intima-media thickness (IMT) and status of plaques were examined through carotid ultrasound examination. Primary outcomes included all-cause mortality, any event of recurrent ischemic stroke/transient ischemic attack (TIA), hemorrhagic stroke, myocardial infarction and angina, and other noncerebral ischemia or hemorrhage. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis and the Long-rank test were used to compare total vascular end point incidence between the two groups. Comparison of median values between two groups was done by the Student t test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), or non-parametric rank sum test. Results A total of 310 patients were enrolled, 192 patients in the treatment group and 118 patients in the control group. Compared to the control group, the treatment group showed favorable outcomes in the Fg level, carotid IMT, the detection rate of vulnerable plaques, the volume of carotid plaques, NIHSS scores, and incidence of total vascular (6.78% and 2.08%, respectively) and cerebral vascular events (5.93% and 1.04%, respectively) (P <0.05). In the treatment group, the volume of carotid plaques was significantly related to the carotid IMT, the plaque diameter, width and number (P=0.000, 0.000, 0.000, 0.022; F=13.51, 2.52, 11.33, -3.29, but there was a weak correlation with the Fg level (P=0.056). After 1-year therapy, the incidence of overall vascular end points was reduced by 4.7%. Conclusion Long-term oral fibrinogen-depleting therapy may be beneficial for secondary ischemic stroke prevention.

The Ontario Hydro Method (OHM) was used to sample and analyze the mercury concentration in flue gas before and after ESP and WFGD in a 300 MW power plant. Mercury content in coal, bottom slag, fly ash of ESP, adsorbent (limestone) and desulfurization product (gypsum) was detected by DMA80. Mercury mass balance was calculated based on the online measurements through the boiler system. Factors affecting the distribution, transformation and removal of mercury in flue gas were discussed. The results show that the gaseous mercury (Hg0 and Hg2+) in flue gas accounts for about 95% of total mercury, while mercury in the bottom ash can be neglected. More than 95% of Hgp and a little gaseous phase mercury (Hg0 and Hg2+)were removed by ESP. The efficiencies to remove total mercury by ESP range from 12.77% to 17.38%. A removal efficiency for Hg2+(g) reaches up to 79.93%~90.53% by WFGD, however, the content of Hg0 after WFGD increases because part of oxidized mercury is reduced to elemental mercury during WFGD. The efficiencies to remove total mercury by WFGD range from 9.68% to 29.36%. ESP and WFGD can remove all of the Hgp and a majority of Hg2+ with a total mercury removal efficiency of 25.38%~38.38%. In general, the demercuration in the conventional devices of ESP and WFGD is not high, which perhaps is owing to the lower concentration of Cl in feed coal.

Objective: To explore the mechanism and effectiveness of inducing severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) with saline saturated hydrogen in rats. Methods: Based on a random number table, 54 Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into 3 groups: control, SAP and treatment (n = 18 each). The model of SAP was established by a retrograde injection of 5% sodium taurocholate into biliary-pancreatic duct. The treatment group received an injection of 5 ml/kg hydrogen-rich saline into tail vein at 1 h post-modeling. The control group underwent only pancreatic tipping. All rats were exsanguinated under anesthesia by aortal puncture after 24 hours. The serum levels of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and interleukin-18 (IL-18) in 3 groups were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The expression of TNF-αmRNA in pancreatic tissue was measured by reverse transcription (RT)-PCR. And intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) in pancreatic tissue was measured by immunohislochemistry. The pancreatic tissues were harvested to examine the microscopic changes. The levels of malonic aldehyde (MDA), myeloperoxidase (MPO), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione (GSH) in pancreatic tissue was measured by specific kits. Results: The pathological scores of pancreatic tissue were significantly lower in the treatment group than those in the SAP group (9.7 ± 2.0 vs 13.2 ± 2.5, P < 0.05). The serum level of TNF-αwas significantly lower in the treatment group than that in the SAP group ((88 ± 17) vs (1171 ± 18) pg/ml, P < 0.05). And the serum levels of IL-6 and IL-18 were lower in the treatment group than those in the SAP group ((25.2 ± 5.9) vs (37.3 ± 4.6) ng/L, (401 ± 100) vs (439 ± 103) ng/L, both P < 0.05). As compared with the SAP group, the levels of MDA and MPO decreased significantly in the treatment group ((8.2 ± 2.8) vs (14.7 ± 2.7) nmol/mg, (0.040 ± 0.011) vs (0.170 ± 0.071) U/g, both P < 0.05). However, the levels of SOD and GSH significantly higher than those of the treatment group ((22.1 ± 1.3) vs (15.1 ± 1.7) U/mg, (4.8 ± 0.4) vs (2.5 ± 0.3) U/mg, both P < 0.05). The expressions of TNF-α mRNA and ICAM-1 in pancreatic tissues were lower than those of the treatment group (0.33 ± 0.17 vs 0.94 ± 0.31, 2.0 ± 0.4 vs 2.8 ± 0.8, both P < 0.05). Conclusion: Hydrogen-rich saline can decrease the levels of inflammatory mediators and reduce the pathological damage of pancreas through the inhibition of oxidative stress. this paper proposed the lightweight QoE driven adaptive invulnerability wireless communication control method, including the wireless communication terminal equipment with invulnerability antenna. According to the quality of wireless network channel quality, the lightweight QoE driven scheme was developed. According to user needs, the quality of the network, survivable ability of wireless communication terminal and wireless communication survivability requirements, we proposed three matching rules by considering the wireless hop number, data size and lifecycle. The experiments demonstrated that the proposed scheme can optimize wireless communication terminal equipment and wireless opportunistic communication network construction, guarantee the user experience quality and improve wireless communication network survivability.

The QoS-Guarantee of data delivery over wireless link is a big challenge due to the unreliable and dynamic characteristics of wireless sensor networks. In this paper, a cooperative forward error correction (FEC)/automatic repeat request (ARQ) mechanism was proposed, in the hope that the data packets could be received on receiver node with high quality. The mechanism, based on Kalman filter, predicts the bit error rate and adjusts the channel state parameters according to the bit error rate threshold value. Both the mathematical analyses and NS simulation demonstrate that the proposed mechanism achieves better performance, in terms of throughput, delay, reliability and energy efficiency comparing with traditional FEC/ARQ, cooperative FEC and cooperative ARQ.

The clustering algorithm plays a very important role in the applications of medical analysis, it can effective analysis the log of disease. It can accurately analyze the characteristics of various diseases, thus providing accurate basis for the doctor's diagnosis. In this paper, we will analysis the cluster algorithm--Fuzzy C-Means Algorithm (FCM). The traditional FCM is liable to trap into the problem of local optimum. We propose an improved algorithm of FCM based on the smooth technology. It will consider the sample points in different positions have different effects on cluster and cluster number has a great influence on the clustering results, so the new algorithm combines the point density and the method of determining the optimal number of clusters, finally use the effective evaluation function to evaluate the effective of the algorithm. Finally, we will use the case of Parkinson's disease to do the experimental verification, the results showed that the new clustering algorithms have better clustering effect, and it can more accurate analysis the characteristics of the disease, and it is using in some applications. © 2013 ACADEMY PUBLISHER.

Purpose: To investigate the possible role of microRNAs in the resistance to platinum based chemotherapy in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), explore their potential role and find potential biomarkers for prediction of the response to platinum. Results: 21 miRNAs were deregulated in A549/CDDP. Increased miR-21 expression significantly increased the resistance of A549 cell to platinum, whereas reduced miR-21 decreased the resistance of A549/CDDP cell. This finding was further validated in the tissue samples of 58 patients and it was found that miR-21 expression was significantly increased in platinum based chemotherapy-resistant patients (n = 58, p = 0.000). And increased miR-21 expression was associated with the shorter DFS (p = 0.008). Among these 58 patients, 32 had the corresponding plasma samples and similar tendencies were detected in 68.75% patients. Finally, transfection of A549/CDDP with anti-miR-21 increased the expression of PTEN and decreased Bcl-2. In contrast, pre-miR-21 decreased the expression of PTEN and increased Bcl-2 in A549. Patients and Methods: Microarray was employed to compare the expression of miRNAs between A549 and A549/ CDDP cells. The effect of a differently expressed miRNA (miR-21) was examined on the sensitivity of cells to platinum. MiR- 21 expression in NSCLC tumor tissues and matched plasma sample was also analyzed by Real-time PCR. Conclusion: Our data suggests that the expression level of miR-21 in tumor tissue and plasma might be used as a biomarker to predict adjuvant platinum based chemotherapy response and disease free survival in patients with NSCLC. Thus, it may serve as a novel therapeutic target to modulate platinum-based chemotherapy. © 2012 Landes Bioscience.

Ad hoc network is a set of the mobile nodes which can communicate with each other and do not require any fixed infrastructure. For Ad Hoc network, it is big challenge to provide the data fault-tolerant transmission in the SMS service network due to its sparse network feature. Based on research on existing technologies and algorithms on fault-tolerance, this paper proposes a SMS network data fault-tolerant transmission optimization algorithm based on improved Kautz diagram by using file and data distribution idea in Ad Hoc network, so data can be transmitted via Ad Hoc mesh network. If the next hop node or network connection is invalid, a method can be used to "bypass" invalid nodes or connections for higher performance. It is proved that the remove working efficiency is higher in this method. To validate related results, this paper designs the test scheme for comparison. The test results validate feasibility and high efficiency of this method.

Carotid atherosclerosis is closely related with ischemic stroke occurrence, development and recurrence. This study aims to make an evaluation of the effects of rosuvastatin on inflammatory factors, serum lipid and carotid atherosclerotic plaque in patients with acute ischemic stroke. In this study, 98 patients with acute ischemic stroke and carotid atherosclerosis were given oral administration of rosuvastatin calcium (10 mg once every night), and the course of treatment was 6 months. After treatment, the changes of serum high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and blood lipid were measured, as well as carotid atherosclerotic intima-media thickness (IMT) and the calculation of carotid atherosclerotic plaque score. According to the examination results, after 6 months' treatment with rosuvastatin, serum hs-CRP, TNF-α, total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG) and low-density lipoprotein cholestrol (LDL-C) decreased significantly (P < 0.01, for all), while high-density lipoprotein cholestrol (HDL-C) increased significantly (P < 0.01); the total number of plaque reduced, while the number of stable plaque increased (P < 0.05); carotid artery IMT and carotid artery plaque score decreased significantly (P < 0.05). There were significant differences between before and after treatment. The results of this study show that rosuvastatin plays a role in anti-inflammation and alleviates the degree of carotid atherosclerotic plaque.
