Molecular dynamics (MD) and modified analytical embedded atom method (MAEAM) are used to study the effect of the cross-sectional shape on the nanowire (NW) premelting. The results indicate that the premelting phenomenon occurs far below the melting point. The temperature dependence of mean square displacement (MSD) shows that the shape effect on the premelting phenomenon is obvious. Based on the detailed analysis of the atomic configuration, the premelting activation energy (PAE), and the shape factor, we have further found that the cross-sectional shape has an important effect on the premelting mechanism of the NW. © 2012 World Scientific Publishing Company.

In order to evaluate quality of the water environment, a novel water quality evaluation method is proposed. Water quality evaluation problem includes several influencing indices, which lead it become a multi-attribute decision making (MADM) problem. Then the new evaluation method is developed from the concept of a well-known MADM method named efficacy coefficient method. In the evaluation process, coefficient of variation (CV) method is used to determine the weights of indices. The aim of this study is to propose a new sensory evaluation method of tea liquor. Sensory data are usually expressed with linguistic terms, which are more suitable than crisp numbers under this situation. The proposed evaluation method firstly transforms the linguistic terms into triangular fuzzy numbers and then develops an evaluation method based on the concept of TOPSIS. To illustrate the feasibility and practicability of the proposed method, an applied example is given to verify the new method. The result shows that the proposed method is effective and easy to be operation for the grading of tea liquors. © Maxwell Scientific Organization, 2015.

This study selects local government and agritourism companies to study the evolutionary game of both sides in the decision-making toward environmental protection. Based on the relevant literatures and the theory of evolutionary game, it try to establish a comparatively accurate mathematical model to verify the effectiveness of the penalty policy of the damage to the environment, then, this study explores the evolutionarily stable strategy of these two parties from the dynamic way. Research results show that, (1) When the fine of the environmental damage is bigger than the cost of the government's supervision, the agritourism companies would choose to protect the environment if the government select the strategy of supervision. (2) When the fine of the environmental damage is fewer than the cost of the government's supervision, the agritourism companies would not choose to protect the environment whatever the government select the strategy of supervision or non-supervision. (3) When the fine of the environmental damage is bigger than the sum of the administrative costs and bonuses, the agritourism enterprises would choose the strategy of protecting the environment even the government select the strategy of non-supervision. The model of ultrasonic propagation through contact interface, which is an important factor in the ultrasonic transducer used in wire bond, was established by Hertz contact theory. From the Hertz contact theory, it is found that higher order harmonic wave and waveform distortion occur when the ultrasonic wave propagate through a contact interface between two isotropic solids pressed together. Based on the model, the effect of the contact interface between horn and capillary in wire bond transducer are tested by Laser Doppler vibrometer. The experiment results show that when contact interface pressure is in the range of 6 kPa to 10 kPa, higher harmonic wave and nonlinear coefficient is minimum. When contact interface pressure is more than 10 kPa, the nonlinear coefficient increases and bonding strength decreases as increasing of the interface pressure. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

The Evaluation of water quality is one of the important aspects of water resource management. Many indicators are needed to be considered in the evaluation process and thus the water quality evaluation problem is actually a Multiple Attribute Decision Making (MADM) problem. The aim of this study is to put forward a new water quality evaluation method based on grey analysis method. In order to avoid the subjective randomness on the weight of each evaluation indicator, the coefficient of variation method is adopted to determine the attribute weights of water quality evaluation. Thus the water resource planning problem is actually a Multiple Attribute Decision Making (MADM) problem. The aim of this study is to put forward a new decision method to solve the problem of water resource planning in which attribute values expressed with triangular fuzzy numbers. The new method is an extension of projection method. To avoid the subjective randomness, the coefficient of variation method is used to determine the attribute weights. In this paper, the crashworthiness of the Taiwan PVC barrier was researched using the method of computer simulation according to the domestic evaluation standard. First, from the perspective of comparative analysis, the simulation experiment schemes were determined primarily based on crash test conditions and test factors of the barrier. Secondly, the "vehicle-barrier" model of each group was set up based on virtual proving ground (VPG) pretreatment software, and the safety of impact between vehicle and barrier were studied from the aspects of the moving locus of vehicle, the acceleration of the vehicle, and the maximum lateral displacement of barrier, etc. The analysis results show that the oriented capability of the PVC barrier and the strength provided by the beam were poor and could not resist a collision with a vehicle. Furthermore, the evaluation factor itself could not meet the acceptance criteria. Thus, further research on the material properties and the optimization of the cross section shape of the barrier beam are of great importance. © 2013 American Society of Civil Engineers.
