The specification of hydrogen sulfide in lean amine solution is becoming increasingly stricter for energy saving and environmental protection. With the expansion of capacities of amine regeneration units in refineries, the energy consumption of amine regeneration is becoming increasingly higher. Based upon the simulation of a 120 t/h amine regeneration unit with Pro II simulation software, an amine regeneration process which can meet the different requirements on amine solution quality is proposed. The amine sidedraw process is designed by simulation of optimum draw-out location, and heat exchange process is optimized. As compared with the original economic analysis, the steam consumption is reduced by 29% , the annual saving is about 5.056 million Yuan ( RMB) , about 700 000 Yuan (RMB) is reduced in investment, and economic benefit is significant.
