Methodology to evaluate the permeability characteristic of porous spur dike based on the fundamental theory of permeability is established. The series of flume tests were carried out and the permeability characteristic of porous spur dike was studied through testing of the proposed generalized model. Results indicate that for the porous spur dike with lower capacity of permeability, the generated resisting force when water goes through the spur dike can be divided into the drag force and the permeability force. Given the specific hydraulic condition and pattern of spur dike, the permeability force cannot be ignored, thus the porous spur dike with some permeable capacity can more effectively block the water in-flow compared with solid revetments. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland. After Three Gorges reservoir impoundment, sediment transport and bed evolution characteristic had changed in the lower Yangtze River. Based on the observational data, sediment transport and bed evolution characteristic of Jiepai reach had been analyzed. The results showed that Jiepai reach evolution had a close relationship with income flow and sediment conditions. In recent years, the income flow and sediment conditions were propitious to the development of left slot of heart beach. It also had accelerated the low beach erosion in transition section and siltation in Xindijia. A 2-D mathematic model and river physical model had been used to forecast the river evolution trend. The results showed that the staggered beach would still not stay steady with the reservoir impoundment. The periodic time of evolution could become longer. Xiru bank beach in right bank of upper Jiepai reach would deposit and move downwards. The main stream discharge would centralize and increase. The left channel of heart reach would be eroded and the right one would dwindle gradually by the squeezing of the heart reach. The right branch channel, as the main navigation channel, would deposit and become shallow. The transition reach would move downwards at outlet of left channel. The riffle would present a staggered shape and left branch channel would dwindle gradually. The waterway transportation condition would get worse. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland. Based on the evolution analysis of Yaojian waterway, it is deemed that in a long period of time, the mainstream will stabilize in Wugui Folder, and that there will be no regulation conditions for making Jianli Left Branch the main branch and main channel. But if we continue to drag on, the river regime, channel, port and the local economy will be adversely affected. This article proposed a conception of regulation works with Wugui Folder as the main branch and main channel. Moreover, it also put forward the detailed regulation scheme for this waterway, including the overall regulation scheme and the first-stage regulation scheme, thus clearly pointing out the direction for the comprehensive treatment of Yaojian waterway. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland. Combining expressway reconstruction project number 20 and number 21 engineering entity of An Xin in HeNan province. At the target mix design of asphalt mixture in Mid-Surface of AC - 20, found in the process of testing specimen density of using a basket with netting on top of coarse aggregate and Marshall, the aggregate and Marshall can produce certain effect on its apparent density and bulk density when the test in condition of different dry conditions, this kind of influence will make the volume index VMA, VV and VFA of mixture produce large deviation in mix design. The mix design was based on coarse aggregate and Marshall test under the condition of different dry apparent density and the bulk volume density, then Summarize the variation, and also summarized the influences of these changes for mixture volume index VMA, VV and VFA. The main stream of the Yangtze River, Dongting Lake, and the river network in the Jingjiang reach of the Yangtze River constitute a complex water system. This paper develops a one-dimensional (1-D) mathematical model for flood routing in the river network of the Jingjiang River and Dongting Lake using the explicit finite volume method. Based on observed data during the flood periods in 1996 and 1998, the model was calibrated and validated, and the results show that the model is effective and has high accuracy. In addition, the one-dimensional mathematical model for the river network and the horizontal two-dimensional (2-D) mathematical model for the Jingjiang flood diversion area were coupled to simulate the flood process in the Jingjiang River, Dongting Lake, and the Jingjiang flood diversion area. The calculated results of the coupled model are consistent with the practical processes. Meanwhile, the results show that the flood diversion has significant effects on the decrease of the peak water level at the Shashi and Chenjiawan hydrological stations near the flood diversion gates, and the effect is more obvious in the downstream than in the upstream. © 2012 Editorial Office of Water Science and Engineering.
