The paper deals with a test and analysis method for transmission rattle noise based on structural transfer paths. The test results for a vehicle show that the transmission has serious rattle phenomenon. Structural paths, including shift cable and clutch cable, are identified as the major noise transfer paths for the rattle noise. The method provides a way to improve transmission rattle for this vehicle and good performance is achieved.
