Dow Unipol polypropylene technology has been widely used in the petrochemical industry. The critical part of the structural design is very improtant. Stress analyses are conducted for the outlet nozzle of 16Mn and 20MnMo forgings respectively with ANSYS FEA software , and Q345R cylindrical shell and 20MnMo forgings are found to be most favorable to meet the licensor's requirements by analysis and comparison of different materials. The stress analysis of cross sections meets the specifications. It is decided that the 20MnMo forgings is the satisfactory material which can meet the proces requirements. This provide s abasis for the safety design of the reactor and a good reference for the design of similar reactors.
