Methods and compositions comprising an emulsion or a microemulsion for use in various aspects of the life cycle of an oil and/or gas well are provided. In some embodiments, the emulsion or the microemulsion comprises water, a solvent, and a surfactant, and optionally, one or more additives. In some embodiments, methods for preventing, reducing, or eliminating a crude oil emulsion in an oil and/or gas well are provided.

A well treatment composition is well-designed for the simultaneous enhancement of the production of both liquid and gaseous hydrocarbons from the same reservoir on a non-selective basis. The well treatment composition includes a first surfactant and a second surfactant, wherein the second surfactant is selected from the group consisting of ethoxylated alkylene amines, ethoxylated alkyl amines, propoxylated alkylene amines, propoxylated alkyl amines, ethoxylated-propoxylated alkylene amines and ethoxylated-propoxylated alkyl amines. The well treatment composition also includes a first solvent, a second solvent and water. Methods for using the well treatment composition include the steps of emplacing the well treatment composition into wells having high and low gas-to-oil ratios.

Methods and compositions (e.g., comprising an emulsion or a microemulsion) for use in various aspects of the life cycle of an oil and/or gas well are provided. In some embodiments, an emulsion or the microemulsion comprises water, a solvent, and a surfactant, and optionally, one or more additives. In some embodiments, a concentrate is provided which may be used to form an emulsion or microemulsion.

A well treatment microemulsion includes an oil external phase, an internal aqueous phase and a hydrophilic surfactant. The surfactant has a hydrophile lipophile balance of between 8-18. The oil external phase may include d-Limonene, xylenes, light mineral oil, or kerosene. The surfactant is configured to emulsify the water of the internal aqueous phase into the oil of the external (continuous) phase. The surfactant may include polyoxyethylene sorbitan monooleate, polyoxyethylene sorbitan tristearate, polyoxyethylene hydrogenated castor oil, polyoxyethylene sorbitan monostearate, polyoxyethylene sorbitan monooleate, polyoxyethylene sorbitan monolaurate or mixtures therebetween. The use of hydrophilic surfactants to emulsify an internal aqueous phase within an oil external microemulsion produces unexpected and beneficial results.

Methods and compositions for the prevention of the formation, breakdown, and/or removal of gelled layers in an oil and/or gas well are provided. In some embodiments, the compositions and methods comprise a concentrate, as described in more detail herein, where the concentrate comprises two or more surfactants. In certain embodiments, the compositions and methods comprise an emulsion or a microemulsion. The emulsion or microemulsion may include a surfactant, optionally a solvent, and optionally a freezing point depression agent or other components.
