A case study on b. liq. expanding vapor explosion and fireball after a railway accident with liq. PrH-BuH mixt. was given. A release of 10-121 of the mixt. took place, the tank car contained 8-101 of the mixt. during the explosion. The fireball duration was 15 s. The fire was extinguished after about 3 h. Two people were deadly injured during the explosion and fire. An inadequacy of common Champagne - model in describing the fireball course was stated. Source

The thermal stability aq. NH4NO3 emulsions in presence of acid-resistant steel, Ti or Al alloy, were studied by means of a reaction calorimeter (heat flow) under const, and changing temp. (303-533 K) after addn. of Cl ions. The temp, conditions for self-accelerating decomp. of NH4NO3 in the emulsions were established. Source
