Artificial coke-oven gas was converted with O2 in lab. and pilot plant membrane reactors at 600°C and 800°C, resp., to remove gas-contained PhH. The full removal of PhH could not be achieved. A small decrease In H2 cone, in the gas was also obsd. Source

Three various coal tar pitches and mixt. of coke and NaSCN were heat treated under Ar or N2 up to 1000°C and 1100°C, resp., at varying heating Intensity to det. the mass loss rates. The thermogravimetric curves were analyzed to disclose the reaction mechanisms. In the case of pitches, formation of mesophase, coking, formation of fixed C and evolution of H2 were obsd. In the case of coke-NaSCN mixt., dehydratation of NaSCN, its decompn. to Na2S, CS2, C2N 2, C and N2, and decrepitation of solid residues were obsd.
