The typification of the names Selaginella denticulata (L.) Spring (≡ Lycopodium denticulatum L.) and S. ornithopodioides (L.) Spring (≡ L. ornithopodioides L.) (Selaginellaceae) is discussed. A new nomenclatural proposal for the hybrid between Sideritis hirsuta L. and S. incana subsp. edetana (Pau ex Font Quer) Mateo & M. B. Crespo: S. x paui nothosubsp. tomas-barberanii (Obón, D. Rivera Núñez, F. Alcaraz Ariza & A. de la Torre García) P. P. Ferrer, Laguna & Guara comb. & stat. nov. (Labiatae) is provided. The lectotype of the name Sideritis incana var. edetana Pau ex Font Quer, is designated from the specimen at BC 73390, as well as the lectotype of the hybrid described by Font Quer as Sideritis x paui [S. hirsuta L. x S. incana L.] is designated from the specimen at BC 73406. A new hybrid for this genus, Sideritis x peris-gisbertii P. P. Ferrer, Laguna & Guara, nothosp. nov. [= S. incana L. subsp. incana x S. sericea Pers.] from the Valencian province is described. Authors briefly present some observations and reflections on the "seeding strategy" of some plant species (Cistus spp., Cistaceae, in particular) in the Mediterranean area in relation to fire: they conclude it does not seem a specific adaptation to wildfires (as suggested in a relevant part of the recent literature), but a generalistic adaptation to open, high energy and variable habitats with aleatory fluctuations. The difference is important both for theoretical and applied aspects, e.g. for the correct management of Cistus species and of other Mediterranean species and habitats. © 2015 Elsevier Ltd.

The typification of the Linnaean name Asplenium marinum (Aspleniaceae) is revised. This name had previously been lectotypified by Reichstein in 1981 from a specimen kept at the herbarium LINN. However, Linnaeus cited a specimen from the Burser herbarium at UPS in the protologue, and therefore in lectotype designation this specimen must be chosen according to Art. 9.12 of the Melbourne Code. © 2016 Magnolia Press.

The designation of the nomenclatural type is based on the consultation of Linnaeus’s original material and the literature cited in the respective protologues.
