Allium moly subsp. glaucescens is described as a new subspecies from the Iberian Peninsula. Different morphological characters from populations located in Valencia (Spain) are evidenced. Lower size of plants, smaller and narrower leaves, of noticeably bluish-green color (glaucous-pruinose), smaller and less flowers in the umbel-inflorescence are characteristic of the new subspecies. Ecology, habitat, cultivation and chemotaxonomy have also been considered and discussed in this work. © 2015 Magnolia Press. Source

The typification of the Cavanillesian name Hieracium laniferum (Compositae) is here discussed. The designation of the nomenclatural type is based on the consultation of the original material and iconography provided in the protologue. This name is lectotypified using a herbarium sheet preserved in the Herbarium Cavanilles (Typi Cavanillesianum) in the Royal Botanic Gardens Madrid (MA). Source

Some questions related to the nomenclature of Phlomis × composita Pau (Lamiaceae) are precised. The name P. × composita is typified based on the original material from Pau, collected by Bourgeau in 1849 and preserved in the herbarium of the Real Jardín Botánico de Madrid (Spain). A previous type proposed by Mateu (1986) is rejected for being incorrect. A new taxonomical status is proposed for the hybrid between P. crinita Cav. subsp. crinita and P. lychnitis L. (Lamiaceae) under the range of nothosubspecies: P. × composita nothosubsp. trullenquei (Pau) P. P. Ferrer, Guara & E. Laguna, stat. nov. © 2014 CSIC. Source

A new subspecies in the sect. Polium (Mill.) Schreb. of the genus Teucrium L. (Lamiaceae) from Valencia Community (Spain) is described and iconographied: T. dunense subsp. sublittoralis, subsp. nov. After the review of the herbarium material and the location of several populations we conclude that this taxon is present in certain areas of the Valencia province. Source

Several proposals are made to use of diversity indices using taxonomic, conservationist (red lists) and phytocoiological data. The classical items used for biological studies -species and individuals- must be substituted by 'ad hoc' items such as the amount of genus in a plant family, number of species in a genus, number of species into a IUCN red list category, etc. The data of Braun-Blanquet's method for vegetation relevees (Sigamtist or Zürich-Montpellier phytosociological school) are converted into cover units, using the Tüxen-Ellenberg's mean cover correspondence expressed as ‰ (degree +=1, 1=50, 2=175, 3=375, 4=625, 5=875). Several examples for each applied diversity index are provided, most of them coming form data reporting the Valencian Community (Spain). Source
