Two bis(triorganotin) 2,6-pyridinedicarboxylates, 2,6-C5H3N(COOSnR3)2 (R=C6H11-c, 1; C6H5C(CH3)2CH2, 2), have been synthesized by the reaction of 2,6-pyridinedicarboxylic acid with triorganotin hydroxide in toluene-ethanol and characterized by means of elemental analysis, FT-IR, 1H NMR spectroscopy, and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. In the compounds, a 2,6-pyridinedicarboxylate dianion binds two triorganotin units in a monodentate manner and both tin atoms exist in a distorted tetrahedral environment. Bioassay results have shown that the compounds possess good in vitro cytotoxic activity against two human tumor cell lines, Hela and MCF-7. © 2014 by De Gruyter.

Two new bis(tricyclohexyltin)benzenedioxyacetates, 1,x-C6H4[OCH2CO2Sn(c-C6H11)3]2 (1: x=3; 2: x=4), have been synthesized and characterized by means of elemental analysis, infrared and NMR (1H, 13C and 119Sn) spectra and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Compound 1H2OCH3OH is a binuclear tin complex containing a four-coordinated tin and a five-coordinated tin and linked by an R3 3(16) hydrogen bond into a one-dimensional supramolecular chain. Compound 2 is a two-dimensional coordination polymer which is formed as a result of anisobidentate bridging coordination action of the two carboxylate units of the ligand. Interestingly the two-dimensional coordination polymer contains 34-membered macrocycles each of which is comprised of four tricyclohexyltin units. Both compounds have potent in vitro cytotoxic activity against three human tumor cell lines: HeLa, MCF-7 and CoLo 205. © 2015 John Wiley and Sons, Ltd.

Three tricyclohexyltin aryloxyacetates, p-YC6H4OCH2COOSn(C6H11-c)3 (where Y=H, 1; CHO, 2; CH2OH, 3), have been synthesized and characterized by means of elemental analysis, IR, and NMR (1H, 13C, and 119Sn) spectroscopy. The crystal structures of complexes 1 and 3 are determined by X-ray single-crystal diffraction. The carboxylate in the compounds is monodentate. The tin atom of compound 1 adopts distorted tetrahedral coordination geometry. In the crystal lattice of compound 3, there is a four-coordinated tin and a five-coordinated tin in which the fifth coordination site is occupied by a water molecule, and the molecules are linked by R3 3(30) and R5 5(28) hydrogen bonds into a two-dimensional supramolecular network. Bioassay results have shown that the compounds have good in vitro antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli. © 2015 by De Gruyter 2015.

5,10,15,20-Tetrakis[4-(triorganostannyloxy)phenyl]porphyrins, (R 3SnO)4TPP [2, R = Cy (a), Ph (b), PhC(CH3) 2CH2 (c)], have been synthesized by the condensation of 4-(triorganostannyloxy)benzaldehyde, 4-(R3SnO)C6H 4CHO (1), with pyrrole in the presence of BF3 followed by oxidation by p-chloranil and characterized by means of elemental analysis, IR, UV-visible and NMR (1H, 13C and 119Sn) spectra. The results of X-ray single-crystal diffraction show that 1a and 1b possess a trans-C3SnO2 trigonal bipyramidal geometry with the axial positions occupied by the phenolate oxygen and formyl group oxygen of an adjacent molecule and form a one-dimensional zigzag chain. In 2a, the macrocyclic core of the porphyrin is coplanar and each tin atom possesses a distorted tetrahedral geometry. These compounds (1 and 2) have potent in vitro cytotoxic activity against two human tumor cell lines - CoLo205 and MCF-7 - and the activity decreases in the order Ph > Cy > PhC(CH3) 2CH2 for the R group bound to tin.
