Shandong fulun Steel has built the first two-strand slab continuous caster for producing products with different sections. The functions and equipment structure together with the hydraulic and electric control principle of taper dynamic balance technology of the slab continuous caster were presented. The quantitative relationship of pressure reduction on mold broadside, disc spring pre-tightening force and the static pressure of liquid steel in the process of casting was derived. From the application of this technology on October 9, 2013 to November 12, 2013, 41860 t slab has been cumulatively casted, 14 heats on average were continuously cast for every casting sequence, and the maximum casting speed is 1.4 m/min. In the meantime, no taper change happens and the left and right tapers are always kept in ±0.5 mm. The internal and external qualities of slab are excellent, and actual application effect is satisfactory.

The thermal linear expansions and the related thermal expansion coefficients of some commercial steels, with carbon content from 0.09% -0.75%, at elevated temperatures were given through a thermal expansion test combined with thermo-physical calculation. At the temperature range of austenite phase, solid phase transformation and below the eutectoid reaction, the carbon content had different influence on the thermal linear expansions and their thermal linear expansion coefficient of steel. Based on the validation through experimentation of steels at solid state, a thermo-physical calculation model was presented for the determination of steel thermal expansion properties at solid-liquid coexistent state. Accordingly, the effect of solidification and the related thermal history on the steel thermal expansion was revealed. The difference of the value of the real thermal expansion coefficient and the average thermal expansion coefficient, and the difference of thermal expansion among the given steel grades were analyzed.
