The project focuses on the strengthening and deepening of the S&T cooperation with the Central Asian and South Caucasus countries, as well as with Moldova. It will be implemented in close coordination with the ongoing IncoNet EECA project (International Cooperation Network for Eastern European and Central Asian countries). The main aims of the IncoNet CA/SC project are: enhancing the policy dialogue with the target countries for the identification of research priorities of mutual interest; development of synergies with other Community policies and instrument for a stronger support to S&T related activities; organization of Info Days and of other activities aiming at an increased participation of researchers from CA and SC in FP7; capacity building and support to the FP7 contact points in the target regions; mapping of key research institutes and analyses/studies on cooperation patterns, S&T Indicators, innovation policies, etc. All the aforementioned activities will feed the Regional Policy Dialogue Platform encompassing all the EECA countries and supported by the ongoing IncoNet EECA project. In parallel, the Central Information Office set up in the context of the IncoNet EECA project and constituting a unique source of knowledge for the entire EECA region will extend and deepen the coverage of the Central Asian counties with particular emphasis on Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan that were not formally included in IncoNet EECA.

The prime aim of the present study is to present analytical formulations and solutions for the stability analysis of heterogeneous orthotropic truncated conical shell subjected to external (lateral and hydrostatic) pressures with mixed boundary conditions using the Donnell shell theory. The mixed boundary conditions are as follows: at one end of FGM truncated conical shell is a sleeve that prevents its longitudinal displacement and rotation, and the other end is a freely support. The basic equations of heterogeneous orthotropic truncated conical shells are derived and solved applying the Galerkin’s method for the two cases of mixed boundary conditions using new approximation functions. Then the expressions for dimensionless critical external pressures are obtained. The results are compared and validated with the results available in the literature. Finally, a detailed parametric study is conducted to study the effect of heterogeneity, material orthotropy and mixed boundary conditions on the critical external pressures. © 2015, Springer Science+Business Media Dordrecht.

Vertically aligned multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) have been synthesised on Ni coated single crystal diamond substrates using a glow-discharge technique. A mixture of gases including CH4, H 2 and N2 has been used for growth. The effect of the CH4/H2 gas mixture and growth temperature on the structure and yield of the MWCNTs has been studied. Atomic force microscopy is used to characterise the annealed Ni film prior to growth. Scanning electron microscope studies have also been carried out to observe the yield, height and diameter of MWCNTs produced under various experimental conditions. Raman spectroscopy has been performed to provide quantitive information on the crystallinity of our as-grown MWCNTs. It has been shown that highly adherent, vertically aligned MWCNTs can be grown on type Ib diamond (100) substrates with an interface free from metal catalyst. © 2010 Elsevier Ltd. Heterophase equilibria in the Ga x In 1 - x Bi y As z Sb 1 - y - z -InSb and InBi y As z Sb 1 - y - z -InSb systems have been analyzed within the simple solution approximation. Ga x In 1 - x Bi y As z Sb 1 - y - z /InSb and InBi y As z Sb 1 - y - z /InSb heterostructures have been grown in a temperature gradient, and their composition and structural perfection have been assessed. © 2012 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

The paper is concerned with the modeling and simulation of film nucleation and growth in the case of diamond-like deposition of materials on a (100) surface. An expeditious and cost-efficient method for synthesis of 1-arylcycloprop-2-ene-1-carboxamides was developed. Rock refuses of mining and metallurgical production contain a considerable amount of non-ferrous, ferrous, precious, rare and trace metals and represent the man-made feedstock, that has been stockpiled and accumulated as result of lack of the cost-effective and environmentally appropriate technologies of their processing and recycling. Long-term mining wastes storage causes different geochemical reconversions. Variation of parameters of a reflex discharge with a hollow cathode operating continuously in propane with a flow rate of 1.3-5.6 (m3 mPa)/s and a discharge current of 0.1-0.4 A is analyzed. It is shown that for a hydrocarbon flow rate of 2.4 (m3 mPa)/s and higher, an increase in the discharge voltage takes place after a time interval depending on the discharge current and gas pressure; this is explained by the formation of coating of the dissociation products of hydrocarbon molecules on the electrodes of the discharge chamber. An increase in the thickness of the carbon coating of the cathodes with time and their charging with ions lead to electric breakdown of coatings and the formation of cathode spots. The oscillograms of the discharge current and voltage indicate a short-term transformation of the glow discharge into the arc discharge. The energy spectra of ions emerging from the discharge are measured, and the effect of the discharge current and the gas flow rate on the energy spread of ions is analyzed. The operation time of the discharge in hydrocarbon after which the cleaning of the discharge chamber is required is determined. The possibility of using an ion source based on the reflex discharge with a hollow cathode for technological purposes is established. © 2010 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.
