Liquid guar gum is developed for use in continuous mixing fracturing. Laboratory study shows that this liquid guar gum is cost effective and is less contaminant to the reservoirs in contact. The liquid guar gum has good dispersion capacity and is an instant polymer. The rate of addition of the liquid guar gum can be precisely controlled when mixing fracturing fluid. In the mixing process, the liquid guar gum can reach 80% of its viscosifying potential in just 5 min, and no "fish eyes" are found in the fluid mixed. Fracturing fluids commonly used in Sulige Gas Field are hydroxypropyl guar gum fluid, modified low molecular weight vegetable gum fluid, finely processed guar gum fluid and carboxymethyl fluid etc. In 2012, the price of guar gum soared, causing high cost in formation fracturing with guar gum characterized by high residue, high damage to reservoir and difficulty removing the residue by backflow. A new low damage fracturing fluid APCF is developed to deal with these problems. APCF has good stability at high temperature, and is resistant to high shear rate (with viscosity being 45 mPa · s after shearing 90 min at 100°C). Other properties of the APCF include low friction, good suspension and carrying capacity, very low residue after gel-breaking, easy-removal of the residue by backflow, low damage to reservoir, and less additives used. This fracturing fluid has been successfully used in Block Su76.
