This paper presents the harmonic analysis of a single phase induction motor energized through an A.C. Chopper using Asymmetrical Pulse Width Modulation (APWM) control technique. This modeling work is based on the configuration of an A.C. Chopper connected with the equivalent circuit of a single phase induction motor (without auxiliary winding). The strength of harmonic component depends on the switching of the APWM signals. This paper presents a detailed mathematical treatment for calculation of harmonic components of the current consumed by the single phase induction motor for different combination of firing angle (αk) and extinction angle (βk). Theoretically, such analysis turns out to be a "Slip Dependent Harmonic Analysis" because the load of any induction motor can be modeled as a function of slip. Simulations have been presented to visualize the variation of harmonic components against values of slip.
