A method based on moments invariant features and cascade AdaBoost classifier for insulator recognition is put forward to solve the problem of poor performance of insulator recognition. At first, the insulator image is preprocessed by median filtering, dilating, eroding and Otsu thresholding. Then, for the better extraction of moments invariant features, the preprocessed insulator image is tilted correctly based on PCA (Principal Component Analysis). Next, the moments invariant features are extracted and chosen to compose complex classifier in the process of training AdaBoost. Finally, the complex AdaBoost classifiers are combined in a cascade method for insulator recognition. The results of experiments demonstrate that the proposed method can recognize the insulator from complex background in the mountainous area, and it has better robustness, accuracy and validity. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

This paper studies the problem of QoS graded optimization in the next generation electric power communication network and proposes an energy-efficient QoS graded optimization method based on artificial fish swarm algorithm. Firstly, this paper discusses the network's model of the QoS graded optimization and describes the network's model using delay and packet loss ratio in time-variant network. Secondly, we set up the model of network's throughput and energy consumption using the characteristics of delay and packet loss ratio in time-variant network. Model information in distribution automation system is sourced from external systems, however a lot of problems exist in the maintenance-free information sharing among systems. For this reason, the feature in model description and management of dispatching and distribution automation system is analyzed in depth. Learning experiences of main network model management and based on present situation of distribution network model management, five key technologies related to model information integration of smart distribution network, namely information integration specification, model verifying, model splitting/merging and incremental loading, layer division based graph transformation technology and flow control based model change management are probed. Besides, the integration and implementation of multi functional modules of related software products are expounded. The feasibility of related techniques is proved by actual cases.

This paper studies the overload control problem of the Parlay gateway in next-generation electric power communication network. First, this paper analyses the effectiveness and fairness of the overload control of the Parlay gateway. And then taking the energy efficiency of the electric power communication network as target, we establish the optimization model of energy efficiency overload control. Thirdly, we put forward an energy efficiency overload control algorithm based on the ant colony algorithm. We study the overload control problem of application server in the next generation electric communication network in this paper. We introduce an energy efficiency overload control algorithm based on simulated annealing. Firstly, by considering the overload control and energy efficiency, we construct the relations function between the input rate control and energy efficiency using rate allocation. Then, we construct the optimal overload control model of energy efficiency by regarding this relation function as objective function and overload control as constraint conditions. Thirdly, we use simulated annealing algorithm to solve this model, and then obtain the optimal solution during the iterative process. The simulation results show that our algorithm is feasible and effective. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

DFACTS devices can synthetically manage power quality problems. As one of the most DFACTS devices, the coordinated control of multi-distribution static var compensator should be considered. Controllers are separately designed aiming at different functions, that means the controllers are isolated even contradictory. In allusion to the problem that the separately designed DFACTS controllers exist interactions, the paper turns the coordination of the DFACTS controller into multi-objective optimization problem, takes the single-load infinite-bus distribution system with two DSVC as the research object, using the Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm with elitism approach (NSGA-II) for DFACTS controller parameters optimization, and the simulation results show the effectiveness of the algorithm. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

In this paper, we study the problem of end-to-end network traffic estimation in the electric power communication network. Based on principal component analysis and multifractal wavelet model, we propose an effective and precise approach to estimate each origin-destination pair. We present a very efficient approach for insulators detection. Unlike previous texture-based approach, we directly search insulators location in the images by using Profile projection. For overcoming the negative effect of image noise on object detection, we preprocess insulators image by thresholding method. To make insulators detection more effective and efficient, we design a tilt correction method based on principal component analysis. The correction enables our method to derive accurate feature extraction curve from insulators image, then we extract five features from the feature curve, which are related to the number of binary sequence and the normalized variance of the binary sequence length. After obtaining the insulators feature from an image, we apply SVM to identify insulators with the five features. Some experiments on video frame images show that our approach significantly outperforms the state-of-the-art in term of both accuracy and efficiency. © 2012 IEEE.

This paper theoretically analyzes the atmospheric influences on Ultraviolet (UV) communication, in which the main considerations include atmospheric absorption and atmospheric scattering. Through the establishment of mathematical model, this paper describes the atmospheric transmittance with different wavelengths. Finally, the atmospheric transmittance is simulated under different visibilities, rainfall and paths. The results show that the atmospheric transmittance will be different with different wavelengths, visibilities and rainfall. The atmospheric transmittance in horizontal path is larger than that in the vertical path. This research provides a theoretical guidance on the using of UV communication for the information transmission in power grid. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

With the development of unmanned helicopters, the dependability of helicopters have attracted more and more attention of many researchers. In order to deal with these problems, fault diagnosis and fault tolerant control methods were used for manned or unmanned helicopter platforms. This paper presents an overview of the existing works on fault diagnosis, including analytical/model-based, signal processing-based and knowledge-based techniques, and passive/active fault tolerant control approaches for helicopters mainly with single rotor. Before the main part of the review, a short description of fault classification is presented. Compared with the former work, this review contains some in-depth discussion of various fault diagnosis techniques and a survey for fault tolerant control methods. © 2013 IEEE.
