Non-isothermal reduction of roasted Guangxi high alumina iron ore pellets with CO and H2 was conducted with high temperature synchronisation thermal analyser (NETZSCH STA 409C/CD) to understand the reduction characteristic of the ore. Chemical analysis, X-ray diffraction examination and scanning electron microscope analysis were adopted to analyse the roasted and reduced pellets. The results show that there are three main phases of Fe2O3, Al2O3 and Al3Fe5O12 in the roasted pellets. During reduction process, the iron bonded in hercynite and fayalite is difficult to be reduced by CO so that the final reduction degree is only 35.62% at the setting temperature of 1573 K. But with H2 atmosphere, the reduction degree can reach 100% at about 1520 K. It suggests that the ferric ion can completely be reduced to metallic iron by H2. © 2017 Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum

Degradation of simulated acid scarlet (GR) wastewater by ultrasonic technology, Fenton reagentoxidation, and a combination of the two processes was studied. It was found that extent of degradation by ultrasonic technology or Fenton reagent oxidation alone was poor, with values of 4% and 40% respectively. The extent of degradation was significantly enhanced when the two processes were combined, with a value of up to 90%, which shows that these two processes have a good synergistic effect and can shorten the reaction time.Also discussed the initial concentration, initial pH, Fe2+ and H2O2 dosage and other factors on the degradation of acid scarlet.The results show that the degradation rate of pH significant effect on the low pH is conducive to degradation. Degradation rate with the dosage of H2O2 and FeSO4 temperature increased, but when acid scarlet with H2O2 and Fe2+ the mass ratio of 100:15:41, the degradation rate reached 96.6%. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

The effects of aminosulphonic acid-based Superplasticizer(ASP)on the fluidity of cement paste and harden perfomance and mechanical performance of fresh concrete are studied.The water reducing rate, adaptation to cements and compatibility with naphthalene-based water reducer of ASP are tested. Teating results indicated that in comparison with naphthalene-based water reducer, ASP has the characteristics of low cost, highly effective water reducing ability and the ability restraining slump loss, and also has excellent adaptation to cements and good compatibility with naphthalene-based water reducer. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

The corrosion behavior of low-carbon steel (CS), P-bearing steel (PS) and P-RE weathering steel (P-REWS) exposed for two years in Jiangjin of China was investigated. The results showed that during 2-year exposure test, corrosion data of the experimental steels followed the bilogarithmic equation, and the average corrosion depth of PS and P-REWS was decreased by 19.5% and 28.2% respectively compared with that of CS. Scanning electron microscope, electrochemical impedance spectroscope and Fourier transform infrared spectroscope were used to characterize the corrosion products. The research results showed that P in steel could promote the formation of an amorphous ferric oxyhydroxide layer near the substrate. The addition of RE could effectively increase the charge transportation resistance of rust. © 2011 Central Iron and Steel Research Institute.

By using transmission electron microscopy and electron back-scattered diffraction, the effect of annealing temperature on the precipitation behavior and texture evolution in a warm-rolled interstitial-free high strength steel was studied. The results indicated that fine FeTiP could precipitate at 650 °C, and the number of those precipitates increased greatly with the increasing annealing temperature until 800 °C. Furthermore, the nucleation of FeTiP was influenced by the precipitation of TiC and (Ti, Nb) C. The near absence of FeTiP and a large volume fraction of TiC and (Ti, Nb) C in matrix are envisaged to be primarily responsible for the sharp γ-fiber texture. As the boundary pinning effect caused by FeTiP is weak and there are less interstitial C atoms in matrix. Thus, annealing at 800 °C leads to the highest intensity of γ-fiber texture. © The Chinese Society for Metals and Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.
