Asymptotics (for small and large times) for solving the thermal friction problem for a tribosystem consisting of a plane-parallel strip sliding at a constant velocity on the surface of a semi-infinite foundation have been found. The thermal strip-foundation contact is ideal, and on the outer surface of the strip convective heat exchange with the environment takes place. The corresponding thermal problem of friction under braking has also been solved. Numerical analysis has been performed for the materials of the frictional pair cermet layer-cast iron foundation. © 2010 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc. Source

The effect of pressure evolution during braking on the temperature of a pad-disk tribosystem is studied. For this purpuse, the analytical solution of the thermal problem of friction during braking for a parallel-sided layer moving with a time-varying velocity on the surface of a semi-infinite foundation is obtained. Both elements of the friction pair are compressed by normal pressure increasing with time. Pressure fluctuation and thermal resistance on the friction surface are taken into account as well.
