Kinetic data on austenite decomposition in high-carbon alloy steel in the continuous cooling of wire rod permit the determination of the best thermomechanical treatment. Regulation of the chemical composition of the steel (the carbon, chromium, and manganese content) and optimal thermomechanical treatment ensure the structure and properties of the wire rod for superhigh-strength wire and metal cord. © 2010 Allerton Press, Inc.

In electrosmelting shop 2 at Belarussian Metallurgical Plant, the removal of hydrogen from steel is studied as a function of the residual pressure in the working chamber of the RH vacuum unit.
