Using powder metallurgy method three copper-based friction materials with three different types of mullite were prepared respectively. Frictioin and wear peroperties of three materials were tested. The results show that with the increase of brake pressure and speed, the coefficient of friction of copper-base friction material using mullite as friction components reduces, and its wear volume increases. The wear volume of copper-base friction material using high purity fused mullite for friction material is bigger than that of the counterpart. Friction material using relative low content of sintered mullite has poor friction stability. While the friction material using kyanite calcinaed mullite has better comprehensive performance. With the decrease of mullite particle size, the wear resistance of friction materials is worse. ©, 2015, Beijing Research Institute of Powder Metallurgy. All right reserved. Source
