The swelling-diffusion behavior, mechanical performance, nitrification activity and storability of gel-embedded bio-carriers LQ-1 for nitrifying bacteria are studied in this study. The results show that the interpenetrating holing-through structure (about 5 μm) is formed in the immobilized nitrifying bacteria cubes. When the compression rate is 85%, the compressive stress reaches 0.49 MPa. More than 95% of the diffusion process can be completed in 10 minutes. Immobilized nitrifying bacteria can survive less efficiently in 5°C. Nitrification activity keeps above 90% after 45 days.

The filtration of reverse osmosis is an efficient, low consumption and easy operation technique, whose efficiency is better than that of traditional treatment technology. It could be adopted on seawater desalination, recycling of waste water and useful materials. The principle, characteristics and application of reverse osmosis are reviewed, and the technical index, such as permeate flow, rate of desalination and so on, and the evaluation methods are summarized. Meanwhile, this paper introduces economic index and evaluation methods.
