The structure of temperature field was optimized by means of software simulation; high-quality CaF2 crystal with φ370 mm was successfully grown by the modified Bridgman method. The grown crystal is perfect and crack-free. After the precise annealing treatment, the total stress birefringence of the grown CaF2 crystal was less than 10 nm/cm. © 2016, Chinese Ceramic Society. A batch of high-quality fluoride crystals was grown by using the special multi-hole carbon crucible via modified Bridgman method. Several kinds of fluoride crystal ingots with different size and shape could be prepared by this method. Compared with the conventional single-hole crucible, this proposed technology could effectively improve the rate of finished products of fluoride crystals and reduce the cost of production.
