To realize flat-field concave holographic grating with high resolution and broad spectral region, Namioka concave grating theory, genetic algorithm, simultaneous free-aberration and common diffractive orders are combined to produce the ideas and method of designing flat-field concave holographic grating. A configuration simulation based on flat-field concave holographic grating is presented, whose root mean square (RMS) spot radius of spot diagrams is given. The RMS spot radius is around 11 μmm in full spectral region 200-800 nm. While a 10 μm×1 mm entrance slit is used, the illumination spectrum image show that the resolution is 0.25 nm and 0.5 nm in 200-400 nm and 400-800 nm spectral region, respectively. All prove that these ideas and methods are available in designing compact and utilitarian spectrometer.

As a truly surface analytical tool, laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) was developed in recent ten years, and in this paper, fundamental theory, instrumentation and it's applications in material science are reviewed in detail. Application progress of elemental distribution and depth profile analysis are mainly discussed in the field of metallurgy, semiconductor and electronical materials at home and abroad. It is pointed out that the pulse energy, ambient gas and it's pressure, and energy distribution of laser beam strongly influence spatial and depth resolution, and meanwhile a approach to improving resolution considering analytical sensitivity is provided. Compared with traditional surface analytical methods, the advantage of LIBS is very large scanning area, high analytical speed, and that conducting materials or non-conducting materials both can be analyzed. It becomes a powerful complement of traditional surface analytical tool.

The influence of outer-inner crucible and standard crucible on the analysis of nitrogen in steel has been reviewed from the aspect of melting state, heating current and releasing peak in this paper. We found that under the same analysis power, the current and the temperature of the outer-inner crucible were both lower, but the sample melting is better in the outer-inner crucible, and the nitrogen peak was also very smooth. Two certified reference materials (CRM) are analyzed by using these two different types of crucibles, and the analysis precision of outer-inner crucible was better than that of the single standard crucible's. Although, the temperature of the outer-inner crucible is lower, it is helpful to improve the nitrogen's analysis precision, as long as the sample is totally melted.

There are no standard method and corresponding reference material for the determination of nitrogen in ferrosilicon. In this study, the calibration curve of nitrogen was plotted using reference material of crumb steel with low nitrogen. The determination of nitrogen in ferrosilicon by pulse melting thermal conductivity method was established using nickel foil fluxing-automatic analysis mode. The influences of three analysis modes including direct injection-manual analysis, graphite powder addition-manual analysis and nickel foil fluxing-automatic analysis on the determination were compared. The results showed that when nickel foil fluxing-automatic analysis mode was used to determine the nitrogen in ferrosilicon, the release of nitrogen was complete and the measurement results were stable. The lower determination limit of this method was 0.00037%. The proposed method was applied to the determination of nitrogen in two types of ferrosilicon samples, and the relative standard deviations (RSD, n=4) of measurement results were 10% and 9%, respectively.

The surface scratch defects on automobile steel sheets were analyzed and judged by laser induced breakdown spectrometry (LIBS). The depth distribution characteristics of position with and without surface scratch defects on automobile steel sheets were compared with the depth analysis method of LIBS. The sample surface was linearly scanned in the selected integral period, so that the surface element distribution was obtained. The surface scratch defects of this position were deduced from the loss phenomenon of some elements in defect position. The judgment results were consistent with those obtained by scanning electron microscope. The proposed method had some advantages of short analytical time (<30 s), high analytical accuracy and no requirements of sample pretreatment, so it was applicable for the rapid judgment of surface scratch defect on automobile steel sheets.
