Radionuclides, 7Be and 210Pb, are used to calibrate efficiency of HPGe γ spectro-meter system. It has been reported that 7Be and 210Pb in aerosol samples could be extracted and transferred into a solution for preparation of efficiency calibration source through a series of chemical processes. In the present study we investigated the chemical procedures for extraction of 7Be and 210Pb from aerosol filter samples. A muffle was used to burning aerosol filter samples to ashes, and concentrated HF, HNO3, and HClO4 were used to digest ashing sample. Then, 7Be and 210Pb in ashing sample can be extracted into the solution. The time is set to 5h for burning aerosol samples to ashes, and the temperature is 500°C. The extraction technique is shown that 7Be and 210Pb in 0.42g ashing samples can be extracted into the solution completely by digesting more than 5 times.

The radionuclide network of the International Monitoring System (IMS) for verification of the comprehensive nuclear-test-ban treaty (CTBT) comprises of 80 particulate stations and 40 co-located noble gas stations, and 16 radionuclide laboratories. The suspicious samples detected by the IMS radionuclide station will be further evaluated at the certified radionuclide laboratories. Therefore, it is expected that they could analyze the archive xenon samples by HPGe γ spectrometry or β-γ coincidence spectrometry. To improve the xenon monitoring ability, the Installation and Certification Group (ICG) of the IMS Division organized the LABS XENON EXERCISE in 2007. ICG distributed archive xenon samples from stations to participated laboratories during the exercise. In the process of detection of the xenon isotopes activity by HPGe γ spectrometer, the xenon sample must be transferred from the archive bottle to a special measurement cell. Based on the principle that xenon was adsorbed by activated charcoal, then desorbed by heating and pumped by diaphragmatic pump, four CTBT archive xenon samples were transferred in 2007. The xenon transfer efficiencies were measured by gas chromatograph. The results show that the transfer efficiencies are all about 80%.

Beamforming can improve seismic array SNR and enhance the detection for weak signals. Beam-forming can be seen as a spatiotemporal band-pass filter of which pass-band is defined by the minimum and maximum wavenumbers, which are functions of the geometry configuration of the array. The measure for beam deployment for HILR and LZDM Verification Seismic Array in Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Beijing NDC is researched in the paper. The measure is based on the geometry configuration of the array, the wavenumber resolution of the array, slowness and frequency distributions of seismic phases. At the same time, the real-time processing speed of system is also taken into account. The measure is operated in data processing systems of CTBT Beijing NDC.

The optimizing and improving the flow of data process system for National Data Center is discussed in the paper. On the basis of research and analysis of national data center data processing system, the process control of the data processing system is improved and optimized using database technology and Tuxedo distributed application control interface technology. The function about auxiliary station data request is added in the system. The automatic processing, interactive analysis, post-analysis processing, event alarm, auxiliary station data request and other related issues which was involves in fast processing about the unexpected events in the running data processing system is solved. The optimized data processing system which maintains the functions and features of the original system can response to emergency. The optimized system can run reliably and stably through practical operation of test and satisfy the design target.

Based on the needs of maintenance and management of national data center verification data processing system, the NDC operation and management support system is developed. The whole process of operation of the data processing system can be monitored by this system using the J2EE development framework based on SSH. At the same time, based on role access control technology, rights management, process management, document transfer function can be implemented quickly in the system. The system has been applied to Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Beijing National Data Centre and improves the operation and management efficiency of internal communication and coordination ability of the system.

Source specific station correction is most widely used in the seismic location correction method in the CTBT verification systems. The principles and calculation methods of source specific station corrections are discussed and the impact on the event location is evaluated in this paper. The method is preliminary implemented in CTBT Beijing national data center, and the results prove that: this method can improve the location accuracy of seismic events in network processing and interactive analysis.

Accurate regional seismic travel time predictions are important to lower the global seismic detection threshold in global monitoring systems. The method of improving regional seismic travel times based on three-dimensional global model and seismic tomography is discussed and tasks for extending RSTT tomography to new areas are presented in the paper. The method reduces travel time residual and improves location accuracy at regional distance.

CTBT Beijing National Data Centre may access International Monitoring System data through International Data Centre in accordance with the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-ban Treaty (CTBT). Non-continuous seismic station date requests are discussed in this paper. The WaveExpert program which generate station-specific data request intervals based on specific regions of the seismic events is presented. The WaveExpert program is a part of the NDC automatic processing pipeline, and it is executed and receives input via Tuxedo. The program also has been realized in China National Data Center.

In xenon activity measurements, the self-absorption diversity among different samples should be well corrected. In this regard, MCNP simulation was performed with a β-γ coincidence detector model. The detection efficiencies were obtained for xenon samples in different volumes, and self-absorption coefficients were calculated using the efficiencies.
