In an augmented reality system virtual objects generated by computer are superimposed on the real scene around users, therefore the illumination consistency between virtual objects and real surroundings is one of the key problems. Existing researches on illumination consistency include illumination estimation, material surface reflectance estimation, photorealistic rendering and so on. The illumination estimation is the prerequisite of illumination consistency and guarantees the consistence of illuminations between virtual and real objects while combining with material surface reflectance estimation. This paper summarizes the most recent research progresses on illumination consistency in augmented reality, discusses the main challenges by analyzing the advantages and shortcomings of existing techniques, and predicts the future trends of the illumination estimation in augmented reality. © 2016, Institute of Computing Technology. With the development of the hardware performance of projectors and techniques on computer graphics, projections are used on more common surfaces so as to provide vivid and shocking visual effects. A new method that employed multi-projector system and interactive flat devices to modify the appearance of textured surface in real-time was introduced. On the basis of analyzing the color modeling of the system, an algorithm which recovered radiometric parameters and distributed the projection energy properly was presented. Efficient interactive-rendering pipelines were developed to insure that newly designed patterns could be projected on surface of objects without geometry and radiometric distortions. Experimental results show that the proposed method could improve the system accuracy of compensation while enlarging the system intensity range. Interaction, drawing and rendering modules of the system work synchronously to compensate the target appearances in real-time. ©, 2015, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (BUAA). With the rapid development of new media technologies, outdoor live performances integrated with projection, LED screen, spotlights, fountain, multichannel music systems and other technologies become more and more common. To solve the problem of lip sync delay and other delay among different systems, a novel synchronous control technique for new media system was proposed. A data buffer was added to solve the synchronous control problem in the same system with changing playing speed and skipping frame or repeating frames. Timestamp synchronous control method was improved with feedback mechanism. The size of time domain data buffer can be changed automatically for the realization of a variety of new media technologies synchronous control. Source
