Abstract Bioassay-guided fractionation of an EtOAc-soluble extract of Acanthopanax senticosus (Rupr. & Maxim.) Harms yielded two new diphenyl ethers, 3-[3′-methoxy-4′-(4″-formyl-2″,6′-dimethoxy-phenoxy)-phenyl]-propenal (1) and 3-[3′,5′-dihydroxy-4′-(4″-hydroxymethyl-3″,5″-dimethoxy-phenoxy)-phenyl]-propenal (2), along with eight other known compounds (3-10). The structures of these new ethers were elucidated with spectroscopic and physico-chemical analyses. All of the isolates were evaluated for their in vitro inhibitory activity against PTP1B, VHR and PP1. The new compounds (1 and 2) inhibited PTP1B with IC50 values ranging from 9.2 ± 1.4 to 12.6 ± 1.2 μM. © 2015 Published by Elsevier B.V.

This paper addresses the mobility simulation model of the multihomed node for supporting a MIPv6 function in an interworking of Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) and IEEE 802.11 WLAN. The multihomed node model with two air interfaces is developed and based on WiMAX and WLAN workstation node model in simulation software. The main point of this paper is to support the MIPv6 function and provide a new network selection policy for multihomed nodes to make a handover decision between the WiMAX and the WLAN network. Finally, the simulation scenario and results are shown for testing and developing multihomed node models and MIPv6 functions. © 2015 Taylor & Francis Group, London.

This paper presents a detailed comparative study of centralized mobility management and distributed mobility management. This paper also surveys the current issues in centralized mobility management and discusses the related work of distributed mobility management approach. We provide the proposed distributed mobility management scheme by using a novel architectural element named location management mobility routing anchor (LMMRA). The LMMRA supports both location management and dynamic distributed mobility routing functionalities. Our approach overcomes some of the major limitations of centralized IP mobility management solutions, such as well-known network bottleneck, scalability, and single point of failures. © Springer India 2016.

This article evaluates the effect of postoperative thyroid neck elastic tourniquet involved in increasing the comfort level, reducing the amount of bleeding, and improving the satisfaction of clients. A total of 120 thyroid surgery patients in our hospital were randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group. Patients used the neck elastic tourniquet in the experimental group, and patients were given oppression using 0.5-kg-heavy sandbags in the control group. The results show that comfort and satisfaction in the experimental group was significantly more than that in the control group (P < 0.05); blood loss in the former was significantly less than that in the control group (P < 0.05). The neck elastic tourniquet used in thyroidectomy can effectively reduce postoperative bleeding of neck and improve comfort and satisfaction of patients. © 2015 Taylor & Francis Group, London.

Electrorheological (ER) fluid-assisted polishing process is a precise polishing technology employing the ER effect to gather and stabilize the abrasive particles in the vicinity of the tool tip for the polishing of optical lenses and dies. The ER polishing fluid is composed of ER fluid and abrasive particles with high hardness and good dielectric property. The ER particle and the addition of ultra-fine abrasive particles into ER fluids are dielectrically polarized to form complex microstructure of columns when the electric field is applied. On the basis of dielectric polarization model, the equation of motion of particles is established according to the interacting force between particles in ER polishing fluid. The microstructures of ER polishing fluid under applied external electric field is simulated, and the influence on interaction force between the particles effect to the microstructures of ER polishing fluid is analyzed. © 2015 Taylor & Francis Group, London.
