Technologically simple and low-cost method is suggested for processing of wastes from manufacture of ionol, a resin from the rectification stage, by isolation of 4,4′-ethylenebis(2,6-di-tert-butylphenol) via dissolution in hexane with the subsequent crystallization. It is shown that the restoration of worn shafts by resistance welding of two steel filler wires to one side of the component is an efficient and highly productive process. The formalized description of the process of formation of the welded joint in the solid phase is presented. Physicochemical methods were used to study the interaction of arabinogalactan from Siberian larch with the antibacterial preparation levofloxacin. Polymeric eye films with controllable output of the medicinal preparation were produced on the basis of an arabinogalactan-polyvinyl alcohol formulation. The chemiluminescence (CL) kinetics in U(IV) oxidation by atmospheric oxygen in aqueous HClO4 has been investigated. The CL quantum yield (ηCL, E/(mol U(IV))) in this reaction is 1.4 × 10 -8. The elementary event generating the CL emitter, which is the electronically excited uranyl ion*(UO 2 2+), is electron transfer from the uranyl ion UO 2 + to the oxidizer (·OH radical). The Ag+ ion quenches CL, and the Cu2+ ion enhances CL. © 2013 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd. Source

Formation of negative ions via dissociative electron attachment (DEA) to the amino acid serine in the gas phase was studied using two different crossed electron/molecular beam techniques and quantum chemical, calculations. Resonance electron capture mass spectrum and effective ion yield curves of 16 negative ions were measured over the electron energy range from close to 0 to 11 eV. The negative ions from serine were detected from resonance states in the vicinity of 0, 1.3, 5, and 8 eV. The dominant reaction channel at low electron energies was (M - H)-. The relative cross section for this ion exceeds more than 20 times that of any other fragment negative ions. A high-resolution experiment was applied to study fine structures in (M H)- cross section. We have found that the second OH group influences some dissociative channels. Quantum chemical calculations were applied to interpret products of the DEA reaction channels. © 2010 American Chemical Society. Source
