The aim of this work was to study the size of neodymium-poor RE carbonate prepared by precipitation with NH4HCO3. Effects of concentration of the reactant, precipitation temperature and amount of crystal seed on particle size were investigated. The experimental results show that, under the conditions of reactant concentration of 0.8 mol/L, precipitation concentration of 2.1 mol/L, precipitation temperature of 25 ± 2°C and without crystal seed, the neodymium-poor RE carbonate can be prepared with a mean size between 20 μm to 30 μm and quality of the product meets the demand of client.
