A automobile leaf spring using hot rolled 50CrVA spring steel as raw material forged at (1030±20) ℃ for 30-40 min, pre-heated at 900 ℃, quenched at (860±20) ℃ and tempered at 485 ℃, that appeared crack after heat treatment. The reasons of quenching cracks were analyzed. The results show that mixed grain, banded segregation after heat treatment are the main reasons of the quenching cracks. Pre-heating at 900 ℃ for 40 min that is of benefit to reducing defects and avoiding quenching cracks. © 2015, Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society of Heat Treatment. All right reserved. Source
