A concept of structural carbide design of steels at the microlevel is suggested. It is shown that it is possible to control the structural state of the carbide phase in aging after heat refining and thermomechanical treatment of a steel in order to improve its cold resistance. Controlled coagulation of carbides is shown to be an effective means for improving the strength and ductility of structural steels. © 2010 Taylor & Francis. Source

One of the main pieces of equipment in the makeup and boron regulation system for the first loop of an NPP is the deaerator, whose functions is to degas the coolant removed from the first loop of a nuclear reactor in different operating regimes. Operating experience has shown that a deaerator design with packing columns does not give the requisite margin to flooding.
