A practical approach to produce 50-60 keV quasi-monochromatic X-ray by selection metal filter was studied. The appropriate metal filter was selected after various types of filters were tested. The mechanical structure of the collimator was also determined. According to the experimental requirement, a X-ray machine was assembled with a X-ray tube, a collimator and an ultrahigh voltage power source. This device generates standard spectrum of quasi-monochromatic X-ray in the energy range of 50-60 keV, and the X-ray machine can present an appropriate substitution to 241Am low energy photon source in the traditional level indicator.

18F-AV45 was the first PET imaging agent for Alzheimer's disease approved by FDA. Its isomer 18F-YG may have better performance in the same field. To promote the localization of 18F-AV45 and the evaluation of 18F-YG, the precursors of the two 18F labeled styrylpyridine derivatives were obtained. AV105 and YGQT were synthesized using 4-aminostyrene as starting materials. First, aromatic amido was protected by carbonic acid tert-butyl and methylated by methyl iodide to obtain tert-butyl 4-vinylphenylcarbamate. Then, the hydrogen atom on the double bond of tert-butyl 4-vinylphenylcarbamate was replaced by iodopyridine which was modified by TEG. And the hydroxyl of TEG chains was protected by P-toluene sulfonic acid group. The total yields of AV105 and YGQT were 57% and 66% respectively. Their structures were confirmed to be correct by ESI-MS and 1H NMR investigations. This work provides a basis to study the performance of 18F-AV45 and 18F-YG in the further.

The chemiluminescence immunoassay for thyroid stimulating hormone in human serum was developed. Two monoclonal antibodies of TSH were used in the assay, one of which was labeled with horseradish peroxidase (HRP) and the other was coated on the microtiter plate. Luminol was used as the substrate of HRP and hydrogen peroxide was introduced into this system. The standard range of the method is 0.1-100 mIU/L. The assay sensitivity is 0.04 mIU/L. The intra-and inter-assay coefficients of variance are 3.98%-6.48% and 4.61%-13.1%. Analytical recovery is 95.8%-117.4%. The correlation coefficient between measured and expected values is more than 0.99. The cross reaction rate with LH is less than 1.62%, and that with FSH and HCG is less than 0.05% and 0.02%, respectively. Compared with determine value clinically in chemiluminescence immunoassay (CLIA) kit from Roche company, the correlative equation is y=1.10x-0.207, and correlation coefficient is 0.969. Compared with immunoradiometric assay (IRMA) kit, the correlative equation is y=1.00x+0.191, and correlation coefficient is 0.965. This method is rapid and convenient, and it is suitable for clinical and research application.

Background: Seed source has become a popular treatment option in the management of various tumors, particularly in the prostate. Purpose: The aim is to develop accurate and reliable dosimetric parameters that could be used to measure the dose delivered to organs at risk. Methods: Dosimetric parameters (dose rate constant, radial dose function and anisotropy function) of model 6711 125I seed source were calculated with MCNP5 and EGSnrc MC codes following AAPM TG43U1 recommendations. Results: The two results were compared with the relative data recommend by AAPM TG43U1, and the data were as follows: dose rate constant with MCNP5 was in agreement with 0.62%, while that with EGSnrc was 2.07%; radial dose function with MCNP5 was within 0.15%-5.12%, while that with EGSnrc was within 0%-2.48%. Conclusion: The results of two MC codes are in accordance with the recommendations. But that with EGSnrc MC code is better.

Dosimetry parameters of Model 6711 125I seed source was simulated by using MCNP5, with a new geometric model of the 125I seed source and a new photon section data (mcplib04). Comparing to the AAPM TG-43U1 recommendation, our simulation results are satisfactory: the dose rate constant is in agreement within 0.62%, and the radial dose function within 0.15% to 5.12%.

The contributions of nuclear chemistry and radiochemistry to the improvements on human health were reviewed in this article. Firstly, the discovery history of radioactivity and other important discoveries, related to human health in the field of nuclear chemistry and radiochemistry, were briefly introduced. Secondly, the development history of 99Mo/99Tcm generator, the principles and major applications of 99Tcm radiopharmaceuticals as well as other major radionuclides in nuclear medicine, were described. Thirdly, the imaging principle of PET radiopharmaceuticals, the development history and the wide applications in nuclear medicine of 18F-FDG, together with other important 18F-labeled imaging agents were depicted. Fourthly, the current therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals were summarized; then, 223Ra dichloride injection for the therapy of bone metastases was highlighted. Fifthly, the advantages and disadvantages of various imaging technology were outlined; then, the new developments of PET/MRI dual-modal imaging agents were emphasized. Lastly, the roles of nuclear chemistry and radiochemistry to the improvements on human health were prospected; then, the achievements and existing problems of China were discussed. ©, 2015, Science Press. The analytical method of 18F-FDG radiochemical purity was established. The mixed solution of acetone-water (50:20 (V/V)) was used as developing reagent. Whatman No. 1 paper pre-processed with 2% KAlSO4 solution was used as stationary phase. The Rf values of 18F- and 18F-FDG are 0 and 0.78, respectively. The relative standard deviation is less than 1%. This method is simple, rapid, and suitable for radiochemical purity analysis of 18F-FDG injection. The uncertainty of analysis method for the radiochemical purity was evaluated. The expanded uncertainty u of this method is 0.199 1, and u is derived from the synthesis uncertainty (uc=0.095 00) and the coverage factor (k=2.096).

Background: The plight of a large number of spent fuel accumulation can be effectively alleviated by constructing spent fuel dry storage facilities. Having been widely adopted in foreign countries, spent fuel dry storage technology has not yet been studied in our country. Purpose: The aim is to study the criticality safety of spent fuel dry storage facility. Methods: The research object is HI-STORM 100 spent fuel dry storage facility internal loading AFA-3G fuel assembly in this paper. Using the MCNP (Monte Carlo N Particle Transport Code) 4C code, criticality safety was studied by changing the density of the water inside and outside of the storage facilities. Results: The results indicate that keff is far below 0.93 in the normal condition, which is safety. But there would be some problems if the water density is greater than 0.8 g∙cm-3 under accident condition. Nuclides composition based on burnup credit can be got by using ORIGEN-ARP code. And then calculation study on the critical safety of dry storage facilities in the same model was carried out. Conclusion: It is possible to provide some proposals on the research of criticality safety. © 2016, Science Press. All right reserved.

A method for preparing 103Pd brachytherapy seeds is reported. The key of the method was to deposit 103Pd onto carbon bars by electroless plating so as to prepare source cores. After each carbon bar with 103Pd was sealed in a titanium capsule, the 103Pd seeds were fabricated. This paper provides valuable experiences and data for the preparation of 103Pd brachytherapy seeds. © 2015.
