A transfer switch including a lockout-tagout assembly and lockout-tagout method are provided. An example method includes a latch of a transfer switch actuating a first switch, wherein actuating the first switch sends an inhibit signal to an electronic controller of the transfer switch. The example method further includes the latch actuating a second switch, wherein actuating the second switch opens operator cutoff thereby preventing function of an operator assembly of the transfer switch. Still further, the example method includes, after the latch actuating the first switch and the second switch, locking the latch so as to mechanically prevent the source contact from closing.

Example devices and methods for compensating for monitoring a surge protection device are provided. In some embodiments, a device is configured to couple to a surge protection device. The device comprises a processor that is capable of sending a DC current signal. A serial data interface is electrically connected to the processor and includes at least one shift register. The device also comprises a multiplexer coupled to the serial data interface. The serial data interface is operable to direct the DC current through the multiplexer. The device also comprises an analog to digital converter (optionally embedded within the processor) that is operable to output a digital signal corresponding to a voltage induced by the DC current signal. Returned DC signals represent surge protection devices health and a multitude of other surge module information.

A controller may be configured to control a fire pump to provide a first level of water pressure and to control operation of a jockey pump that is coupled in parallel with the fire pump to provide a second level of water pressure that is less than the first level. The controller is further configured to receive, from a pressure sensor coupled to the fire protection system, an output representative of the water pressure. The controller is configured to provide instructions to initiate the jockey pump based on a pressure value associated with the output being below a first value, and to provide instructions to initiate the fire pump based on the pressure value being below a second value that is less than the first value.

Example devices and methods for compensating for a voltage imbalance within a power supply are provided. In one example, a device comprises a plurality of transformers coupled in series and having respective outputs coupled together, and the plurality of transformers are configured to receive an input voltage. Transformers of the plurality of transformers are configured to receive a capacitor voltage as the input voltage. The device also comprises a control module configured to receive the input voltage as input to each of the plurality of transformers and a feedback signal that includes an output of the series of transformers, and the control module is configured to control switching devices for each of the plurality of transformers so as to control operation of the plurality of transformers to compensate for a voltage imbalance of the voltage across the capacitor.

Methods and systems for a fire pump control system are provided. An example fire pump control system includes a pump system having a given full load current, wherein the pump system comprises (i) a fire pump, (ii) a first disconnect switch and (iii) a first circuit breaker. The first disconnect switch and the first circuit breaker are located upstream of the fire pump. The system further includes a controller configured to control operation of the fire pump, and the controller comprises a second disconnect switch and a second circuit breaker. The controller is located upstream of the first disconnect switch and the first circuit breaker, and is configured to avoid (i) opening within two minutes at 600 percent of the full load current, (ii) opening with a restart transient of 24 times the full load current, and (iii) opening within 10 minutes at 300 percent of the full load current.

A short circuit detection circuit for an electrical circuit includes a secondary power supply. The electrical switch is connected in series with a load and is selectively connected in series with a first power supply. The secondary power supply is limited in comparison to the first power supply in terms of voltage and/or current. A first resistance is electrically connected between the secondary power supply and a first terminal of the electrical switch. A voltage measurement circuit measures a voltage at the second end of the first resistance. A controller is configured to, while the electrical switch is controlled to an open state, energize the secondary power supply and obtaining a first voltage measurement. In response to the first voltage measurement indicating that a voltage across the first resistance is greater than a predetermined threshold, the controller identifies a low-resistance condition in the electrical switch.

Multiple bus generator and load control monitoring system for electrical switchgear is provided. In one arrangement, the system is designed to allow for the increased functionality of a single bus system to be used in multiple bus systems wherein the multiple buses are separated or combined together to act as a single bus. Each bus within the multiple bus system may be able to utilize increased functionality of a typical generator bus and load control system independently if separated. Separate bus structures may be separated by some sort of isolation device, for example: a circuit breaker, transfer switch, or the like. If the bus segments are connected together via isolation devices, then the combination of the overall connected bus structure will act as a single entity, while containing enhanced automation functions.
