Background: A green path for the synthesis of 3-aryl-1-phenyl-4-(4,5-diphenyl-1H-imidazol-2-yl)-1H-pyrazole derivatives using [BMIM][BF4] as a catalyst and green methods such as ultrasound and microwave irradiation is discussed in this paper. The titled compounds were obtained by the multi-component condensation of various 3-aryl-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxaldehydes, benzil and ammonium acetate. One pot synthesis, simple reaction conditions and quantitative yields illustrate the utility of this green approach. Methods: Conventional Reflux Condition: A mixture of 3-aryl-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxaldehyde 1 (1 mmol), benzil 2 (1 mmol), ammonium acetate 3 (2 mmol) and catalytic amount of [BMIM][BF4] (15 mmol %) was placed in a round bottom flask containing 10 mL of ethanol. The reaction mixture was refluxed for completion. The course of the reaction was monitored by thin layer chromatography. After completion of the reaction, the mixture was poured over crushed ice. Solid imidazole thus obtained was separated by filtration, dried well, and recrystallized by ethanol. Ultrasound Irradiation Method: A mixture of 3-aryl-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxaldehyde 1 (1 mmol), benzil 2 (1 mmol), ammonium acetate 3 (2 mmol) and catalytic amount of [BMIM][BF4] (15 mmol %) was placed in a round bottom flask containing 10 mL of ethanol. The round bottom flask was placed in an US bath at 50°C for 80-90 min. The course of the reaction was monitored by thin layer chromatography. After completion of the reaction, the mixture was poured into crushed ice, solid imidazoles thus obtained were separated by filtration, dried well, and recrystallized by ethanol. Microwave Irradiation Method: A 10 mL round bottom flask was charged with 3-aryl-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxaldehyde 1 (1 mmol), benzil 2 (1 mmol), ammonium acetate 3 (2 mmol) and catalytic amount of [BMIM] [BF4] (15 mmol %), and placed under MW irradiation at 240 watts for 7-9 min. The course of the reaction was monitored by thin layer chromatography. After completion of the reaction, the mixture was poured over crushed ice, the solid imidazole thus obtained was separated by filtration, dried well, and recrystallized by ethanol. Results: The 3-aryl-1-phenyl-4-(4,5-diphenyl-1H-imidazol-2-yl)-1H-pyrazole derivatives 4a-i (Scheme 1, Table 2) were synthesized by using [BMIM] [BF4] as a catalyst with good yields under reflux in ethanol (68-70%), US irradiation in ethanol (76-80%) and MW irradiation (80-86%) without solvent. All these methods provided good results with IL [BMIM][BF4]. However, the MW and US irradiation methods give good yield in a short period of time with 3-aryl-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxaldehyde 1 containing a variety of substituents, whereas the conventional reflux condition gives lower yields and takes longer time as compared with MW and US irradiation. The structures of the synthesized compounds have been confirmed on the basis of spectroscopic techniques such as FTIR, HRMS, LCMS, 1H and 13C NMR. Conclusion: In conclusion, we have synthesized differently substituted imidazoles using [BMIM][BF4] as a catalyst under MW and US irradiation via MC condensation strategy. Under the conventional reflux conditions, we get a lower yield in a longer time, while US and MW assisted synthesis gave better results. Comparatively IL [BMIM][BF4] with US and MW irradiation protocol provides several advantages such as improved reaction speed, shorter reaction times, superior yields and a significant contribution towards sustainability. © 2016 Bentham Science Publishers.

The objective of the present study is to develop colon targeted drug delivery system by using polysaccharide as a carrier. Matrix tablets containing various excipients and polysaccharide were prepared by wet granulation technique using different binder systems. The matrix tablets were evaluated by different IPQC tests, content uniformity, matrix index and in vitro drug release study as per IP 1996 method. Drug index profile in simulated gastric and intestinal fluid was evaluation parameter for selecting the best formulation. Drug release profile in simulated gastric, intestinal fluid from the dissolution studies was taken for selecting the best formulation. The matrix tablet containing dextrin as a carrier and ethyl cellulose as a binder found to be suitable for targeting paracetamol for local action in the colon. Same matrix tablets released fewer amounts (8-11%) of drug in simulated gastric fluid. Matrix tablets containing dextrin released 95-98 % of paracetamol in simulated colonic fluid with 4 % human fecal matter solution.

Abstract: We present a facile and environmentally benign protocol for synthesis of variously substituted imidazole derivatives via multicomponent condensation of benzil, primary aromatic amine, substituted 1,3-diphenyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carbaldehyde, and ammonium acetate in presence of 1-butyl-3-methyl-1-imidazolium tetrafluoroborate [BMIM][BF4] as catalyst under conventional reflux as well as microwave irradiation condition. The one-pot synthesis, facile solvent-free condition, and good isolated yield illustrate the utility of this green approach. The structural features are derived using analytical tools including fourier transform infrared (FTIR), Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LCMS), and 1H and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. Density (ρ), Excess Molar volume and Apparent Molar volume are reported for binary mixtures of Ethanol, Propan-2-ol and 2-Methyl Propan-2-ol with Propan-2-amine over entire range of mole fractions at 298.15 and 308.15 K and atmospheric pressure. Excess molar volume (VE) and apparent molar volume (V+) have been calculated. These values were fitted with Redlich-Kister type polynomial equation. © 2011 RASAYAN. All rights reserved.

Abstract: The synthesis of propargyl amine derivatives was carried out via multicomponent reaction of substituted 1,3-diphenyl pyrazole aldehyde, phenyl acetylene, and morpholine in the presence of iron oxide-supported copper oxide nanocatalyst (Nanocat-Fe-CuO) with good yields. The Nanocat-Fe-CuO was easily separated from the products and reused to catalyze the reaction again with good yield. In the absence of catalyst reaction was not proceeding to any extent. The formation of compounds was confirmed on the basis of their IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, and mass spectral techniques. Objectives: The objective of this study is to determine the inheritance pattern of type-2 diabetes and make stratification for the general population risk. Materials and Methods: A questionnaire was developed for o btaining the family history. Analysis of the data was carried out by using student and Chi-square tests and for stratification; the guidelines of Scheuner et al. were followed. Results: The pattern of inheritance is the male sex specific (χ2 =13.44). The mean age of onset of diabetes in parents was 58.61 ± 2.94 and in offspring 46.75 ± 2.54. In all 47.22 ± 11.53% families were found in high risk and 31.94 ± 10.77% in the moderate risk category. In female diabetics, the onset was in the age range of 41-60 years. Conclusion: We found a high-risk of diabetes and familial clustering in successive generations of Brahmins with prominent male sex specificity. In females onset of diabetes was coinciding with the period around menopause.

Nanocrystalline pure and CuO doped ZnO thin films were prepared using spray pyrolysis technique. The zinc nitrate (0.1 M) and copper chloride (0.1 M) were used as starting precursor. These films were characterized by XRD, SEM and EDAX to observe structural, microstructural properties and elemental analysis respectively. It is observed that the average grain size was found to decrease from 190 to 90 nm, as the doping wt % of copper chloride in zinc nitrate solution goes on increasing. The sensing performances of pure and doped films were tested. The sensitivity goes on increasing with decreases in grain size (increase of copper chloride in zinc nitate solution). The maximum sensitivity of S 35 at 400 °C was found for films prepared from 10 wt % of copper chloride. © 2011 SumDU.
