A molding material for a sliding member, the molding material being superior in processability and sliding properties, and a sliding member formed from the molding material for a sliding member are provided. The molding material for a sliding member contains a phenol resin, a boron compound, an elastomer and a filler. The elastomer preferably contains at least one selected from the group consisting of an acrylonitrile butadiene rubber, a urethane rubber and a silicone rubber, and more preferably an acrylonitrile butadiene rubber among them. The boron compound preferably contains at least one selected from the group consisting of boric acid, zinc borate and boron oxide, and the filler preferably contains a carbon fiber. Furthermore, the content of the elastomer with respect to 100 parts by mass of the carbon fiber is preferably no less than 5 parts by mass and no greater than 50 parts by mass.

Purposes of the present invention are to provide a dry coated sand having a high degree of fluidity at the room temperature, a method of advantageously producing the coated sand, and a method of producing a casting mold having excellent properties, by using the coated sand. The dry coated sand is obtained by mixing an aqueous solution of a water glass used as a binder, with a heated refractory aggregate, whereby water in the aqueous solution is evaporated, and a coating layer of the binder is formed on surfaces of the refractory aggregate. A moisture percentage in the thus obtained dry coated sand is controlled so as to be not more than 0.5% by mass. The intended casting mold is obtained by filling a molding cavity of a forming mold, with the dry coated sand, and passing a steam through the coated sand, to solidify or cure the coated sand.

An ultrasonic flowmeter includes a measurement pipe through which a fluid flows, and two ultrasonic transceivers provided on outer side portions of the measurement pipe so as to be spaced apart from each other in an axis direction. In the method of producing the ultrasonic flowmeter, fabricating the measurement pipe in advance is fabricated, and then is set in a mold as an insert. Two transmitting bodies are formed by insert molding on the outer side portions of the measurement pipe so as to be spaced apart from each other in the axis direction, so that the two transmitting bodies are integral with the measurement pipe. The two ultrasonic transceivers are mounted on the two transmitting bodies, respectively.


Providing a process for advantageously producing spherical particles of furfuryl alcohol resin using only furfuryl alcohol without using a harmful aldehyde as a starting material. In the process, furfuryl alcohol is subjected to a self-condensation reaction in the presence of an acid catalyst, whereby a fluidic condensation resin of furfuryl alcohol is obtained. The condensation resin of furfuryl alcohol is granulated and cured using water as a reaction medium in the presence of a dispersion stabilizer and an acid catalyst having a pKa of not more than 1.5, whereby spherical cured resin particles are formed.
