The present study was initiated upon finding an unknown Hypobarathra species during a collecting expedition to the higher regions of western Sichuan Province in China in 2015. The genus previously contained only two Palaearctic species with remarkably different external appearance and distribution pattern. Interestingly, all three species of Hypobarathra are adapted to completely different eco zones and habitats, which are discussed under each species. According to Hacker et al. (2002), the closest relatives of the genus are Melanchra Hübner, [1820] 1816 and Odontestra Hampson, 1905. This statement should be corrected, since Hypobarathra is forming a common clade with Melanchra, Ceramica Guenée, 1852 and Ebertidia Boursin, 1968, while Odontestra representing another lineage within the tribus Copyright © 2016 Magnolia Press.

Descriptions of four new Owadaglaea Hacker and Ronkay, 1996 (O. kulmani sp. n., O. reta sp. n., O. michelleae sp. n., and O. dominiki sp. n.) from Nepal, China and Myanmar are provided along with detailed comparisons to their nearest relatives. Description of a new Harutaeographa Yoshimoto, 1993 species, Harutaeographa shui sp. n. from China's Sichuan province, is given. Harutaeographa yangzisherpani transformis Hreblay & Ronkay, 1999 is combined as a synonym of Harutaeographa yangzisherpani yangzisherpani Hreblay & Ronkay, 1999. Additional distributional data for Harutaeographa pallida Yoshimoto, 1993, and Harutaeographa cinerea Hreblay & Ronkay, 1998 are provided. A checklist of the genus Harutaeographa and a key to the Harutaeographa fasciculata (Hampson, 1894) species-group, based on external characters and genitalia, are presented. © Balázs Benedek et al.

Two new Noctuidae species Orthosia wangwene and Cirrhia spalvota from China's Sichuan province are described. Superficially the new species Orthosia wangwene and Cirrhia spalvota resemble related congeners but they can be distinguished by differences in wing pattern, genitalia and distribution. Checklists of China's Orthosia and Eurasian Cirrhia are presented.
