Results of experimental investigations of the average heat transfer from five-row staggered bundles of tubes with knurled spiral fins, operating in the free air-convection regime, in the case where the angel of inclination of the longitudinal axis of the tubes changed from 0 to 60° are presented. The investigations were carried out by the method of complete heat simulation. The average heat transfer was measured in the direction of a free air flow in each row of a tube bundle. The experimental data were generalized by similarity equations for calculating the average heat transfer from the tube bundles and their individual rows in the range of change in the Rayleigh number characteristic of the operating conditions of industrial heat exchangers assembled from finned tubes of the type of the above-indicated tubes. © 2010 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc. An analytical solution (in the form of a Neumann series) of the problem of rarefied gas flow in a plane channel with infinite walls in the presence of a pressure gradient (Poiseuille flow) parallel to them is constructed within the framework of the kinetic approach in an isothermal approximation. The ellipsoidal-statistical model of the Boltzmann kinetic equation and the diffuse reflection model are used as the basic equation and the boundary condition, respectively. Using the resulting distribution function, the mass and heat flux densities in the direction of the pressure gradient per unit channel length in the y′ direction are calculated, and profiles of the gas mass velocity and heat flux in the channel are constructed. The results obtained for the continuum and free-molecular flow models are analyzed and compared with similar results obtained by numerical methods. © 2012 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd. Source

The influence of the launch of carrier rockets of different classes on chemical composition of the air in the working zone of the Plesetsk Cosmodrome is studied by ion chromatography, spectrophotometry, and gas analysis. On the basis of analysis of data obtained, the efficiency of methods used and the locality and short-term duration of atmospheric pollution by toxic components of rocket propellants in the region of the launch complex at the cosmodrome are deduced. © 2010 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd. The hydrodynamic behavior of lignin in a dimethylsulfoxide-water mixture have been studied at the temperature range of 20-60°C and at a water content from 0 to 30%. The rise of temperature was shown to deteriorate the quality of the solvent; i.e., the system under investigation belongs to systems with a lower critical solution temperature. The dimension of lignin particles in the mixed solvent decreases with an increasing proportion of water in the system. © 2010 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd. Source
