The paper investigates the effects of different concentrations of crumb rubber (CR) on the pavement performance of the conventional penetration-grade 80/100 bitumen and the dense-graded wearing course asphalt mixture (AC16). A wet process and 0.6mm size CR were used and the control variables included three types of CR of concentrations 5%, 10% and 15% by total weight of binder. The evaluations were twofold. Firstly, a comparison of the basic and rheological properties of those modified and unmodified binders was conducted. Secondly, a comparison of the resistance to moisture damage, low temperature cracking and permanent deformation of the AC16 and CR modified AC16 was performed. The results show that all the CR modified binders and mixtures are found to have improved performance as evaluated by a series of laboratory tests. In addition, among three CR concentrations, AC16 modified with 10%CR by total weight of binder exhibits the most satisfactory performance properties with respect to the resistance to moisture damage, permanent deformation and low temperature cracking.

In order to study the effects of different factors on the performance of crumb rubber modified asphalt, on the basis of many laboratory tests, this article analyzed such factors as types of crumb rubber, fineness, content, mixing temperature and matrix asphalt. Results show that mixed with the crumb rubber, pavement performance of the asphalt has been improved to varying degree. In the engineering application of rubber asphalt, it is suggested that the 20 mesh crumb rubber modified asphalt of truck tire be adopted, with about 16% to 18% of crumb rubber content at about 175°C. As for matrix asphalt, it should be selected according to the different climatic conditions and the mechanical characteristics of the pavement. © (2012) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Based on the assumption of thin plate of elastic foundation and vibration theory, a method for calculating the fundamental natural frequency of cement slab is presented and the influence of slab dimension and foundation reaction modulus on the fundamental natural frequency of cement slab is discussed. As well, according to the analysis results of fundamental natural frequencies of typical cement pavements of China, the selected proposals of the excitation frequency of the resonant rubblization machine are presented. The research results provide a theory support to popularize resonant rubblization technology in overlaying and rebuilding engineering of the existed cement pavements in China. © (2011) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Poly vinyl pyrrolidone (PVP(K30)) / Bisphenol A Dicyanate ester (BADCy) blends were fabricated to increase the toughness of BADCy by blending processing in this paper. Curing parameters were determined by gelation time curves and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) of the systems. Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FTIR) and DSC data were employed to show the curing behavior and kinetics of the systems. Mechanical properties of the cured resin had been improved rapidly with the increasing of PVP(K30) at low mass fraction, but would decrease when mass fractions of PVP(K30) were higher than 15%. Scanning electron micrograph (SEM) was applied to show the microstructures of the cured matrixes. Based on the thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) curves, water absorption curves, SEM images and dielectric properties of the blends, it can be concluded that the addition of PVP(K30) can improve the toughness of BADCy greatly with little loss of other properties.

The rapid development of automotive brought a lot of accumulation of waste tires. Waste tire crumb rubber mixed with asphalt not only eliminates its impact to the environment, but also improves the performance of asphalt. Crumb rubber modified asphalt was made by the high-speed shearing device using waste tire crumb rubber mixed with Karamay-90 asphalt. The influence of mixed time, stirring time, processing temperature and the fineness of crumb rubber to the performance of crumb rubber modified asphalt was studied.The best processing technology of crumb rubber modified asphalt was obtained. © (2011) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

In order to improve the inventory control efficiency and quality in manufacturing company, one production scheduling optimization method is put forward. Simulation of production model is firstly constructed, such as description of the production model, simulation data, machine processes and scheduling model. Moreover, Genetic Algorithm is applied to generate a production schedule for efficient running of machine. The simulation result is analyzed to verify the method by comparing product simulation with actual production.

In camouflage design, extracting the dominant color from target background is an important step. A drawback of common color clustering methods is the requirement of supervision. This paper proposes an unsupervised color clustering algorithm based on the chromaticity histogram. The chromaticity histogram is established according to the CIE 1931 system. The cluster center is automatically generated based on the distribution of pixels in the coordinate system. Euclidean distances in the chroma space are calculated one by one between pixels and each cluster center. These pixels are clustered around the nearest clustering center. Experimental results show that the proposed clustering algorithm can accurately extract the dominant color, and automatically segment the color image. In addition, the algorithm uses less time in image segmentation than common algorithms. ©, 2015, Press of Shanghai Scientific and Technical Publishers. All right reserved.

The traditional camouflage is based on a number of irregular spots or stripes, whose edges are smooth as well as they have clear boundaries between different colors. The visual distinction degree is so strong that the camouflage effect is debased. The digital camouflage can break the boundary of a camouflaged target between different colors, and make it blurred and broken, so as to attain a better camouflaged effect. An algorithm which can generate digital camouflage figures is presented with background images of the target. It quantizes the colors of the background, extracts the dominant colors, and then determines the size of a mosaic block. Finally, the digital camouflage figure is generated. The experimental result shows that, the digital camouflage is easier to blend with the natural background than the traditional camouflage, and achieves a good effect of the optical camouflage.

In view of vibration models of high-rise buildings with podium, on the basis of analyzing its structural equation of motion, it applies the fuzzy control algorithm to control simulation on high-rise buildings models with 12-storey main building and 3-storey podiums, that is using the fuzzy control strategy to control the force output of semi-active control device of MR damper. The fuzzy control as a branch of intelligent controls can well and proficiently bring operators' subjective experience and intuition into the control system, and it analyzes and synthesizes the system from the point of features of the system and the overall optimization. It simulates the displacement of top storey and velocity & time-histories curve, and obtain damped percentage through the comparison of results without control, with evident result. © 2010 IEEE.
