In the present investigation, a novel fine inclusion removal technology due to the dispersed in-situ phase induced by composite ball explosion reaction was put forward. A composite ball with this function was designed and industrial investigation has been carried out on the base of the experimental research. The results indicate that feeding composite ball in RH furnace is a novel technology and inclusion in the molten steel can be removed effectively. ω(CaCO3)/ω(CaO) ratio in composite ball has a great effect on the inclusion removal efficiency. More feeding times and a little feeding amount can increase the using efficiency of the composite ball. Compared with the conventional inclusion removal technology, the number of the oxide inclusion can be decreased to a lower level and the inclusion size becomes much finer. Using this novel technology, the total oxygen in the as-cast slab can approach to 6×10-6. Source

The continuous cooling transformation behavior was studied after two steps deformation by Gleeble-3800 thermal mechanical simulator for X80 pipeline steel, and the continuous cooling transformation (CCT) curve was set up by thermal dilation method and metallographic method. The results show that, ferrite and bainite in the X80 steel are mainly obtained at low cooling rate, microstructure is entirely composed of bainite with different shapes when the cooling rate is higher than 1 °C/s, as the cooling rate goes up, microstructure is refined and the hardness enhanced gradually. According to the CCT curve, when the final rolling temperature is higher than 750 °C and cooling rate is between 20-30 °C/s, bainite with high-density dislocation and disperse MA constituents can be acquired in actual production, which ensures the X80 steel possess of high strength and toughness simultaneously. According to the temperature, atmosphere and residence time of the pellets at different position in Ansteel 2580 m3 BF, hot and dynamic test of the burden was carried out to simulate the reduction process with temperature in laboratory. The results show that the reduction expansion under BF condition is lower than the standard expansion at 900°C through reduction test at different temperature. The reduction expansion of Ansteel pellets are in the normal range, but the reduction expansion of Gongyi pellets should be paid more attention. The melting and dripping properties of burden is relative steady under 20%-30% of the acid pellets, and the pellet ratio increasing is not the reason for bad BF conditions under 25%-30% of acid pellet. The pellet with a certain ratio of Ca or Mg can decrease the swelling-reduction ratio and improve the melting and dripping properties, as will be helpful to enhance the ratio of pellet. Source
