Microstructure, phases, microhardness and high temperature wear resistance of Co-base alloy hardfacing layer on a low carbon steel after laser remelting and aging treatment were studied by means of optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, microhardness and wear resistance tests. The results show that microstructure of Co-based alloy hardfacing layer is significantly refined and its hardness, wear resistance is improved after laser remelting. The microstructure of remelted hardfacing layer consists of γ-Co matrix and Cr7C3, Cr23C6 strengthening phases. After aging treatment, microhardness and wear resistance of the remelted hardfacing layer increase compared with that of the un-treated hardfacing layer. The best wear resistance of the remelted hardfacing layer aged at 900°C for 6 h is observed.
