A method and system for providing a temporary sealant within a wellbore of a subterranean formation is disclosed. According to one embodiment, the temporary sealant comprises a particulate material and a liquid. The particulate material and the liquid are mixed to a predetermined dilution ratio. The temporary sealant is pumped into fractures via an open hole of the wellbore. The particulate material accumulates and is left within the fractures to set. Over a predetermined period of time, the particulate material degrades, disintegrates, or dissolves within the fractures.

A method can include introducing a particulate diverting agent into a first fracture within an underground reservoir formation. The particulate diverting agent can at least partially hydraulically isolate the first fracture. The particulate diverting agent can also be a temporary material which substantially degrades over an extended time. The underground reservoir formation can be stimulated with a stimulation fluid sufficient to expand a second fracture within the underground reservoir formation. The particulate diverting agent can then be allowed to substantially degrade.

A geo-cooling system of specified cooling capacity for cooling a known heat load is disclosed. The system includes a cool water aquifer, a cool water production well and a heated water injection well. The cool water production well is open to the cool water aquifer and in hydrologic communication with a subterranean heat exchange area that provides requisite cooling capacity to a known heat load. The heated water injection well is in hydrologic communication with the subterranean heat exchange area and open to the cool water aquifer at a prescribed distance from the cool water production well. The prescribed distance between the cool water production well and the heated water injection well is at least based on the available size of a subterranean heat exchange area including a portion of the cool water aquifer that hydrologically communicates between the heated water injection well and the cool water production well.

A system and method for extending a slotted liner shoe is disclosed. According to one embodiment, a low density material is injected into a liner having a plurality of openings. The liner is suspended below a cemented casing in a wellbore of a well in a subterranean formation. The low density material extrudes through a lower portion of the liner into an annulus between the liner and the wellbore. A cement is circulated into the liner above the low density material. The cement extrudes through an upper portion of the liner into the annulus between the liner and the wellbore Water is displaced from the wellbore, and a solid cemented casing string is formed at a desired depth.
