The paper presents results of TatNIPIneft efforts to work out a technology to optimize the water-flooding system. The technology is realized through selection of optimal modes of injection wells to redistribute flows to displace unswept oil, without use of expensive well stimulation methods.

The authors analyzed the effect of hydraulic fracturing on the process of residual oil displacement for the terrigenous Devonian formations of the Romashkinskoye field. Hydraulic fracturing, like any other EOR method, might improve reservoir performance through increase of both oil displacement efficiency and conformance. To understand reservoir response to hydraulic fracturing and to evaluate the effect of the technology, the authors suggest analyzing producing well performance together with variations of the light absorption coefficient. The paper also presents comparative analysis of well performance, light absorption variations, and fractional analysis following hydraulic fracturing.

The paper describes the results of experimental studies of the enhanced oil recovery techniques effect on the oil properties. It has been shown that photocolorimetry can be used as the main method of research. The optimum wavelength for research has been defined by mathematical statistics method. It has been shown that photocolorimetry can effectively be used for prompt analysis of oil properties that change in response to well stimulation.

An instrument for determining the nonlinear thermal properties of rocks under natural conditions is proposed. Software is developed for processing the temperature readings, obtained from the instrument sensors, using mainly the theory of the solution of inverse problems for a parabolic-type nonlinear equation. The result was the review and analysis of existing technologies sealing production casing during operation of the wells of Tatneft PJSC. In addition, the frequency of violations by tier stratigraphic section, the length of the violations and the average age of the well until the first violation of operating columns.

A conceptually new completion method Involving forming of lengthy drain channels to establish connectivity with the productive formation is considered. A new type of rotary perforator allows non-damaging drilling of drain channels up to 1 m long and 20 mm in diameter. The paper presents results of the detailed analysis of the completion technology, as well as conclusions and practical recommendations.

Heat transfer in a composite cylindrical region is considered. An approximate analytical solution of the direct problem is obtained. It is shown that, beginning at the instant t > t , the relative error of the solution obtained does not exceed 1%. On the basis of this, algorithms are constructed which enable inverse problems to be solved effectively. Examples of the use of the algorithms to determine the thermal properties of unconsolidated materials are presented. © 2012 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc.

A method of investigating the thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity and heat capacity of capillaryporous media when a liquid is seeping through them is theoretically substantiated. It is proposed to use a regular thermal mode of operation of the 3rd kind (the periodic-heating method) in a system of bodies in contact: two semibounded media with the sample-plate between them.
