This article presents data on the prevalence of hearing impairment among the workers engaged in the main means of transportation(air and railway transport). They show that the relative frequency of occupational loss of hearing in the cockpit members of commercial aviation amounts to one third of all cases of analogous diseases in this country. The main professional groups of transport works suffering from hearing impairment are constituted by the representatives of the so-called elite specialities, such as flying crew personnel, locomotive engineers, and their assistants. This fact constitutes an important aspect (not only of medical but also of socio-economic significance) of the problem under consideration. The high prevalence of professional hearing impairment among the transport workers is attributable to the high noise level in the cabins of locomotives and aircraft cockpits as well as to the inadequate expert and diagnostic work or imperfection of the regulatory documentation.Abstract available from the publisher. Tribopairs of steel-polyurethane filled with high-stannous Babbitt B83 powder are studied in comparison with the copper powder filler in terms of self-organization. The friction surfaces and composition of secondary structures appearing in the tribocontact of steel 45 rollers with polyurethane blocks filled with Babbitt powder are examined. The optimal composition of the filler proved to be 10% of B83. New structures atypical of classical thermodynamics are revealed. © 2010 Allerton Press, Inc. Source

The aim of the study presented in the paper is to estimate the effect of the 3-piece bogies’ design on the motion resistance by simulation and comparison with the results determined by empirical formulas used for calculation of motion resistance of railway rolling stock in Russia. The paper presents method for determine the rolling resistance of energy dissipation at oscillations. The significant difference in energy consumption between the results obtained by the simulation and calculation by empirical formulas was found out. © 2016 Taylor & Francis Group, London. Source

The results of tests on the scoring resistance of newly developed aluminum antifriction alloys and antifriction bronze have been presented. It has been shown that the load of scoring for aluminum alloys is significantly higher than for bronze with a maximum content of the soft structural component, i.e., the best antifriction bronze. © 2015, Allerton Press, Inc.
