Twenty-five patients with stage IV colorectal cancer were treated with FOLFOX4. Serum albumin levels were correlated to the lymphocyte count and inversely correlated to the granulocyte count and to immunosuppressive acidic protein (IAP) levels prior to treatment. Patients with lower albumin levels, lower lymphocyte counts, higher granulocyte counts, and with higher granulocyte/lymphocyte (G/L) ratios did not show any effects by chemotherapy in this study.
